Drabble challenge 132?

still accepting drabble prompts :D

Okay so this ensemble is from a short story I wrote a few years back and promptly forgot. Whoops. Anyway, these two are the heads of a clandestine detective agency in a cyberpunk city. It’s fun ya’ll.

132. “We’re not playing strip poker. I don’t care what I said when I was drunk.” Noel replied. “Besides, that was in character.”

“In character,“ Kit scoffed. The situation called for the ‘wealthy powerful businessman’, and he had managed to drag Noel out with him to play as his, well. Noel called it ‘backup’.

Kit continued, “You know, the best lies are the ones that muddle the truth.”

Noel laughed, despite himself. “So back at the party, when you said you loved me, was that an example?” 

Kit took a while to reply. He said, smiling, “I thought you were gonna’ die.”

Noel looked at him, finally. He opened his mouth to say something before Kit cut him off. “So what would it be? I have Connect Four, Monopoly–”

“Kit–“

“Mahjong?“

Noel laughed, a real laugh that made his ribs hurt. “How about we don’t play anything.” He moved to close the gap between them, just enough that their knees touched. And for a moment, there were no parties, no gunshots, no deals with shady businessmen. Just the sound of the city and the sound of Kit’s breathing, sure and steady.

“I’d like that,” Kit replied.

Lavender, old books, fresh laundry, wood smoke, warm cake, and the way the woods smell early in the morning.

What's the last book you read for pleasure?

Hi, darling !! Recently, I finished Never Let Me Go by Kaizo Ishiguro. However, I also just finished Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov and The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I recommend ALL of these books !!

Water, tea, or juice?

juice usually ~ it’s so refreshing! i’m drinking mango/peach/pineapple and it’s very good.
