So Prodigy definitely comes across as being designed to be 40 episodes. To tell one cool story and introduce kids to Star Trek. I'd say they accomplished their goal.
Dissonance comes from that being their goal.
I prefer season one, much because season two is basically just making season one happen. (Season one was more episodic too, more stood out, but that might be a side effect of binge watching.)
It does answer a few questions (close a few loopholes) but was it worth it? idk. I think I would have preferred a new adventure, preferred an actual serialized tv show.
But this is 2024 and we can't have nice things.
So I'll take my 40 episode story. Yes they left it open for more, but I doubt we'll ever get it. 40 eps is still amazing in this day and age. It was a nice one off, gorgeous look, great music, hilarious moments, and Time Amok.
