Das muss ich Ihnen empfehlen, dass man erst einmal sieht, was liegt überhaupt vor, was ist eigentlich der Problembestand, und wie können wir solche [Marxschen] Kategorien auf den zeitgenössischen Zustand der Gesellschaft beziehen? Unmittelbar, ohne Modifikation, wird das wahrscheinlich nicht möglich sein.

THING OF THE WEEK - Return to Space (Prodomo)

Until a few days ago, I was vaguely aware of the genre of spacesynth, but had no idea it was called as such. To that end, I was unable to search for it. Quite simply, spacesynth is Eighties-style synth with a futuristic twist and a thing for ridiculous track names. And it's glorious. Here's a more in-depth explanation and some history if you fancy it.

As mentioned, I had a revolution a few days back. Somehow, and I can't quite remember how, I ended up clicking on a video entitled "PRODODO - Return to Space". What I found caused a musical mind explosion of the sort I had when watchingHighlanderfor the first time.

Just...listen. As a wise commenter put it, "no words."

Doubtless you find that to be pants-moisteningly incredible. Had a feeling you might. Well, the fun is only beginning, as YouTube alone has about as much spacesynth as any man could ever need. Granted, I'm not just any man, but it's still a place to start. And if that's not enough, I happen to have found two separate sources of free spacesynth tracks, including some of Prodomo's works. If you fancy recommendations, I'd suggest Flight of the Dragon and Rock the Space, which have managed to become among my favourites in the short time I've been aware of their existence. You should also check iTunes, which has at least a few albums of interest.

I hereby bequeath the highly respected title of Thing of the Week to Return to Space, both for being stupidly amazing and for setting me on the wondrous path I find myself skipping along now. As for Prodomo himself, I think there's only one true way to thank him.
