Transformers Generations Armada Nemesis Prime and Air Defense Mini-Con Team
I know I've already covered this mold... I think? Can't seem to find the review. But I do want to talk about those Mini-Cons, especially since I've already covered FansHobby's take on them. But also, just, fun backstory, @jaybuilds got this before me at a con while I was still on the fence about it, brought it to locals, and let me mess with it, and playing with those Mini-Cons is what ultimately made me decide to get this.
Nothing too much to say about Nemesis Prime. Mine's joints are a little softer (not looser) than the original. Does everything the original torso could do, has some different paint apps, can form the torso though does lack some general details in the shoulders and such (I might get a Reprolabels sheet if they do this one).
What I really want to talk about is the Mini-Cons, though, because they're so good except one thing. They actually have quite a lot of posability for guys so small, not exceeding but being very close to what FansHobby did. I also just think they look better aesthetically. While FansHobby did them like small Transformers, Hasbro made them kinda squat and goofy and I think they just look more like Mini-Cons that way. And the thing that really sold me on these guys is the Star Saber, because it's honestly better than FansHobby's version. Everything locks together super solidly, the guard is locked in place which is a problem I've had with every other Star Saber, the handle is the right size for any Transformer, it's great. The only thing they could have added to make them better would be 5mm pegs that fold out so you can Mini-Con a 'Bot up.
Unfortunately, I also had the production issue that a lot of people seem to be having. If you didn't know, Jetstorm (the skinny jet) has his tail fin flip around to become his chest. It is a small piece on a sliding rail that also had a pin shot through it and is super tight. And this leads to fracturing and breakages. And mine broke. Even more so than the below picture since then. The friction is strong enough that it still works, and it looks fine since the breakage point is always obscured, but it's still a bummer.
I did contact Hasbro, and they did offer me a full refund if I returned the toy to them... but I don't want to return it just to get another one, and as I said, the friction works fine, so I'm just going to keep it. I mostly just did so to report here that if you do have a breakage and do want a refund, they are accepting them.
Overall, despite my issue, I still really like these guys. I love the Star Saber, and when Jetfire eventually comes out, the pants won't just sit there. There's a decent chance you may have the same breakage issue I have from what I've seen, but if you're willing to chance it, or don't care, it's a fun set.
