Ngl I've always been confused when people say certain characters have to die for their story to happen, like Ashlynn's mom. The Evil Queen AND Snow White's mother die during the og fairy tale but they're both obviously still around. I kinda assumed characters who are supposed to die in the og no longer do in order to carry on the legacy.
And now I'm reading through the books for the first time and I find out Mr. Badwolf was supposed to be MURDERED by Hunter's dad when he was playing out his story. Like wow okay... that's why 🧍♂️🧍♀️
canon likes to be both low-key sanitized but also completely insane at the same time. there's also other changes aside from deaths that contribute to why one might assume that those deaths don't happen the same/at all at first.
Cerise Hood's secret is literally the worst-kept secret ever. Not only does she look exactly like Ramona, the daughter of one of the teachers who everyone knows, and does she bear a striking resemblance to said teacher and has NO known father, but she also growls at the mildest inconvenience, her eyes regularly flash yellow, she's absurdly fast with a visible prey drive, she's borderline carnivorous, again very visibly (homegirl was legitimately advocating for meat-only days in the castleteria,) not to even mention the time she and Ramona freed Professor Badwolf from vines with their claws during EQ's takeover and he hugged them and said "I love my daughters" right in the middle of the hallway- like, everyone has to know. Everyone knows and pretends they don't so as not to inconvenience her because her father is a scary dude, and they're all convinced they're the only one who knows so they have to keep shut about it. The only one who genuinely doesn't know is Hunter Huntsman.
A few thoughts on EAH before I do a rewatch and reread.
1. I assume Cupid was sent to EAH because the Royal-Rebel conflict was preventing people from pursuing love.
2. Cerise’s dad was originally supposed to be the villian in her retelling as well and Grimm would’ve tried to rectify the mistake of her mothers.
3. Destiny does exist but is meant to be more natural (I have thoughts that tie it to Cupid again but I have to look at her in MH too so I can really understand) which is why Apple was still poisoned, Darling was a knight, etc.
4. Continuing on that I think Ginger went to Wonderland because she would’ve been the one to make treats for the next Alice.
5. I don’t remember if it was ever addressed why Red Riding Hood hid the storybook? (That was her right? Who Briar recognized in the picture?)
6. If Alice in Wonderland has the Looking Glass sequel, are the Wonderlandians also technically characters with two destinies? Don’t those books take place in two different worlds.
7. Since it seems there can be destiny replacements, I figured this is what happened with Rosabella’s parents and with Raven’s family at some point.
8. Milton and Giles’ ages and how they work differently compared to the characters. Especially since we see them with a later generation though that episode makes it sound like Apple and Raven were generations ago (and mentions them by name rather than role.)
9. I really wonder if there’s any info on what direction the Og writers would’ve gone in?
10. I also thought that it might end up that the EQ’s became a part of the written story (like her trying to take over Wonderland)
Badwolf ain't even the attractive

Professor Badwolf and Vander are both alike in appearance and in the way their behaviors are towards their family.

EAH Fandom, what do y’all think was going through Red’s grandma’s head as she was trapped in the closet, stuck listening to Red and Badwolf flirt via stupid jokes. Cause I imagine something like:
Red and Badwolf: *Stupid jokes and giggling*
Grandma: “My goodness, I’ve raised a furry.”
[A few minutes later]
Red and Badwolf: *Still making stupid jokes and giggling*
Grandma: “If I have to listen to another minute of this nonsense, when the Huntsman shows up I’m going to have him hit me with his axe and PUT ME PUT OF MY MISERY!!”
Badwolf could’ve been Gomez addams. (Red being Mortica light) I cannot keep my posts short so open with caution.
I’ve been mulling over the statues of the Little red riding hood story and have come to the conclusion, Badwolf and Red could have very easily done a hiding in plain sight sitch.
My defense:
Badwolf knowing hoodian culture shouldn’t be out of place as he has to pretend to be an old lady that is good enough to fool red for a few seconds. (hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if he knew a few more traditions than Red because of his obligation to study) also they are functionally neighbors. There is going to be crossover.
The man also gave me thespian vibes in class of classics so, like he also has the license to be dramatic (huff and puffing is also a pretty extreme response to having a door in your face)
And as for Red, having the Evil Queen as a roommate must’ve done something, namely she speaks very posh when annoyed, (my what *insert phrase here* you have) and has a good grasp on scheming (not that hoodians aren’t naturally crafty) this would would compliment badwolf’s dramatics.
But now the fun bit, how this would translate into his familial relationships.
unlike most villian/hero relationships Badwolf and Red narratively remain neighbors as opposed to red being able to completely move house like it’s implied for other fairytales which get screen time in eah. So they have to remain cordial with each other and it’s sappy as hell.
example scene that I’ve been mulling over:
Badwolf has decided to teach a class with Red as a guest speaker (in conjunction with some hero class) to demonstrate how to get along with your story book nemesis post story. (An excuse to see red and condition people to not question when he speaks highly of her) Hunter remains suspicious and threatens badwolf with a hachet (he’s not actually going to do anything and badwolf and red know this).
Badwolf (unamused) “Red could you please call off your guard dog?”
Red: “and why should I do that?”
Badwolf: “Because you’re a good person who cannot deal with another’s blood on your conscious?”
Red: (keeping a straight face)
Badwolf “oh glorious woman, doth thou not see with your beautiful silver eyes that I beg forgiveness? To call off the huntsman with your melodious voice? One who walks with the grace of a swan, one’s who’s kindness which could comfort that of a thousand crying children? Oh how…”
Red: (trying really hard not to cry from both flattery and embarrassment) “Release him”
if anyone points out that him and Cerise look similar, he loudly gloats that “Ha in your face Red I did look like grandma”
that Ramona looks like Red: “excellent work on your makeup, dear.”
Cerise doing a weak growl? “No, no that’s not how it’s done at all, here, let me demonstrate.”
For those that get suspicious that Badwolf and Red actually have a deeper relationship then they put on they don’t say anything because they won’t admit that somehow these two have a better functioning relationship than they ones who are destined for happily ever after.
(also for badwolfs dramtic speech, I have not studied Shakespeare so I’m aware it sucks)
