Yooooo new Pokémon just dropped! I think it’s so cool that the new region is based on Spain, I’ve been working on Spanish as a second language for the past two years, and you can see Spanish in the starter names!
Sprigatito, had “gato“ in it, which means cat, and when you add -ito to an end of a noun, it means little. He is indeed a little cat
Fuecoco probably got influence from the word fuego, which means fire. The second half, “coco”, literally just means coconut, not sure how it connects but I guess he’s kinda coconut shaped?
I‘m not sure on Quaxy, all that comes to mind is onomatopoeia ”quack” but that kinda breaks the pattern of Spanish names. Comment if you have any better ideas, I could easily be wrong
The lake on our property is home to the majority of our water type/water dwelling pokemon. Its a very peaceful area and many different pokemon can be found relaxing here after a long day.
The guardian of this area is none other than our lovely Milotic, Duke. As the strongest and largest Pokemon housed at the lake, he fell into the guardian position with little resistance. He tends to quite standoffish, and isn’t very fond of human contact outside of the context of feeding. However, any visitor found fishing will not be in for a warm welcome.
We were originally concerned that the introduction of Aurora the Dragonair might cause conflict (considering how territorial dragon types can be), but they have been getting along just fine.
Figured my team could use a bit of an update. Here are my babies! Though technically I do have more Pokémon that live with me at the center, these are the only five officially registered to me. We’ve been through quite a lot together, love them all dearly.
I did a few doodles this morning of a few of the Pokémon that typically hang out in our main indoor facility.
Here’s a few tidbits about them:
Richard (Fomantis): funny little guy, has more energy than his little body can usually handle. Constantly challenging the biggest foe he can find, tends to find himself in a bit of trouble quite often.
Dogmar (Tropius): belongs to Nova, head empty, no thoughts kinda mon. It’s best not leave any fragile equipment in his path.
Rush (Pikachu): a bit of a loner, not quite sure how he lost his eye, but he’s very popular with visitors. But due to his species we can’t adopt him out to anyone.
Beanie (Scolipede): my baby, I raised him from an egg back when I was in university. He’s my only really battle fit mon, he’s very protective, follows me anywhere I go around the center.
Whiplash (Starly): not as friendly as his cute face might let on, anyone who tries to touch him will get hurt. Doesn’t stop people from trying though.
Mr. Darcy (Delcatty): A very good natured guy, squirms his way into any lap that will let him stay. He lives for pets and cuddles
DeeDee (Psyduck): very intelligent, but also very anxious. Any big brain thoughts in his head are held back by his constant worrying. Loves popsicles
Prankster (Rotom): we’ve been trying to train them to be the center’s technology mon, but he’s more keen on possessing the microwave and scaring us half to death
Lumity (Butterfree): the guardian of our main building. Very kind, but also strict, does his best to keep all trouble makers out of our way when we’re working
Sunshine (Cherubi): any thoughts at all? Not sure, her favorite activity is sitting in my office window and soaking up sun.
Tyrone (Zubat): for some reason she prefers Nova’s office to the caves where the rest of the Zubat reside, she can be found hanging from the ceiling during most of the daytime hours.
Marigold (Teddiursa): she likes to sit in chairs and pretend she’s human, very chatty, just a baby, Lumity has to look after her or she might just hitch a ride home with a guest.
Anyways, I was greatly inspired by legends/myths from different regions a while back. So inspired i created these to represent them. I’m quite proud of how they turned out, and I ended up giving one jar to each of my brothers and keeping the Johto one for myself.
Eevee are such interesting creatures. Typically, kids are given domestically bred eevee, seeing as they’re the most mailable for new trainers. However, in the wild eevee are strongly influenced by their parent‘s evolutions. Eevee raised by Jolteon tend to have spikier fur, and have a tendancy to produce static electricity. Those raised by Leafeon show a greenish tint to their fur, and begin to rely on photosynthesis as a source of energy. Ones raised by Espwon have acute psychic powers that they use to communicate with family over distances. And those raised by Sylveon show a pink tint to their fur and produce calming auras around themselves. The list of course goes on.
Many regions don’t allow for wild eevee populations to take root, simply because they can turn the ecosystem on its head due to their versatile nature. However in Galar, they are free to rome the wild area as they please, so specialized eevees aren’t really uncommon. You end up with some very interesting evolutions to, such as if you were to give a fire stone to an eevee raised by vaporeon, you’d end up with a flareon with a strong affinity for water. But usually, they would be barred from participating in league matches.
