It must be said that everyone's favorite Zoom class moment, trumping all previous hilarifying moments involving Professors Gadling and Murphy, was the time when little Oliver somehow climbed up on his Dada's seat to deliver a classic Shakespeare Rant.

In eloquent baby babble.

With all of his Dada's signature hand gestures.

It was clear that it was a Shakespeare rant because the students could make out "Shaxbert yucky" in Oliver's spirited delivery.

Professor Murphy was no help at all as he was seen laughing helplessly in the background before he picked Oliver up and said, "Thank you for the edifying words, young Professor Gadling. I must really speak with your other father on his pernicious influence upon your literary education."

Professor Gadling may or may not have forgone the week's quiz once he was provided with a video of little Oliver's "lecture."

A/N: I know I said I was posting a Michael piece but I’m still thinking about Professor Murphy. The Michael piece is coming, I swear! These are some headcanons to start. I’ve never written for Cillian, but if people enjoy this and I have some inspiration I may put a little smthn smthn together.

uses the same copies of his favorite plays he’s had since he was sixteen to teach. they’re full of plot notes, questions, observations and more importantly, character commentary in the margins and age, barely sticky post it notes.

he’ll buy another version of the script to teach a class and mark down student commentary in it to keep track of participation, and also return to points students made

is a surprisingly strict grader but is always always willing to discuss during office hours; believes knowledge is more important than the grade

starts the semester by asking each student to pick any instrumental piece and write a poem to it which then he has them write music to their own poem in a completely different genre.

He’s partial to the messy pieces, the pieces that are “obviously tapped out on empty beer cans and shot glasses with your number two pencils” because he’d rather there be spur of the moment creativity than none at all

Is known for keeping his office door open with the hardcover version of his least favorite Shakespeare work at the moment

Nicknames his students so he can remember their names easier, he refers to graduated students by the nicknames

Very quickly relaxes his dressing through the semester; starts off with suits and slacks then into sweaters, nice jeans, and wore sweatpants to the final “to match the class”

Has been seen letting class out early so he can watch his class sled down the hill behind his building when the snow comes

Has a typewriter, prefers hand written grading to the online stuff

Refuses to let his religion lit class be christian/catholic literature, will let those discussions roam (has dipped into satanism from time to time, even)

Teaches literature, is not against students acting out scenes from the play they’ve read for extra credit (encourages the shy students to do it, even, he was one of them once)

Always has one discussion every semester about “was Ophelia a feminist”

Has a maximalist office but a minimalist desk; there’s art on the walls and the selves but his desk has a stack of papers and a cup of coffee, that’s all

Answers emails in moments, a text takes forever to get a response

“If you need me, my office hours are any time I’m not teaching” absolutely loves students coming by to discuss anything with him

When the first faeborn student made her way into the school’s art department during orientation it was almost as if the world stopped. Everyone with any knowledge on the subject knew what she was the moment they saw her. Her long blonde hair, her elegant black clothes, her almost pointed ears, the sparkle in her eyes, and the mystical way she seemed to see everything others could not told everyone she was different.

She never left the school. Even after all these years she’s still there. She’s made herself a place at the school. Mrs. Murphy is the head of the art department now. She is wise. She is special. She is tricky. She is capable of chaos.

If you ask her, you can become her student. You will spend hours awake at night pouring over old books and trying to prove yourself. If you cannot prove yourself, you should best consider yourself dead.

Damien has never returned even after all these years. He can be found pacing around the basement of the art building, mumbling to nothing in Latin. He almost seems to be stuck in time as he hasnt aged a day in the decade he’s been gone. It’s not known how he’s still alive in any capacity. No one dares to question it. He couldn’t prove himself. It wasn’t what she did to him. It was what the fair folk did.

One of Mrs. Murphy’s most successful students is Dr. Brown in the geology department. She is knowledgeable. She is willing to help. She will offer you protection if you take her classes. If you can pick up on how she talks about the properties of each rock you can learn the stones. She will tell you the stones for protection. For confidence. For luck. She will not teach you. She will tell you she is not a teacher of those things. She will, though, tell you what you need to know about Mrs. Murphy.

Treat Mrs. Murphy as you do the fair folk. Treat her with respect and caution. She will never lie. She will take all of your promises seriously. She is as close to the fae as you can ever safely interact with. And she will never use one thing against you, your name.
