IT'S SHOWTIME! PROFESSOR TIME! (fanart from 2019)

Call me crazy but I think doof in retrograde might be a metaphor of how doof feels about being professor time (the center of the universe) and how it is too much for him. Also the nightmare inator his nightmare is being the ruler of the world. We are continuing the development from Milo Murphy's Law

So I keep seeing people (mainly Perryshmirtz shippers) saying that given the development and growth of Perry and Doofenshmirtz's relationship, that in this new season of the show, Perry is being too rough and mean to Heinz and that Perry is acting too impersonal towards him. I haven't seen all of the episodes available of the new season yet, so maybe he ends up crossing a line, but personally I think that it is entirely in character and justified for Perry to be acting less personable and more aggressive towards Doofenshmirtz in this new season. If Perry is indeed acting more violently than might be strictly warranted towards Heinz in this new season, have you considered that it might be because Perry is rightfully mad at him for returning to evil?

For people who have only watched Phineas and Ferb, Doof returning to evil and Perry returning to stop him might seem like a perfectly normal, natural thing. But the thing is, it's not like nothing has been happening in between seasons. Dan Povenmire has already said that Milo Murphy's Law happened in between these two summers, and Doofenshmirtz was very much present for the events of that series! (To a sometimes intrusive degree, in my opinion.) And Milo Murphy's Law perfectly lays out reasons for why Perry would get legitimately angry at and disappointed in Heinz for returning to evil!

Because in between seasons, Perry has been actively supporting Heinz' turn to good! First by being Heinz' mentor as an animal agent at OWCA. And second, by unflinchingly supporting Doofenshmirtz future endeavors in inventing time travel!

Perry is Heinz's first and firmest believer in his capacity to do good!!! Perry just spent a lion's share of the past year taking time out of his day to check in on Heinz both on and off the clock to make sure that he was doing alright and staying on the path of good- Investing his own time, safety, and even money to make sure that Doof was doing okay! Have you ever wondered what Perry does with his OWCA paycheck? In Milo Murphy's Law, we see that he literally uses it to invest in Doofenshmirtz' future!!!!! No one believes in Heinz's capacity to do good more than Perry!!!

And what does Doofenshmirtz do after Perry has done SO much for him...? Literally the next summer, Heinz returns to evil as if nothing happened! Like, we know that he doesn't have the same kind of malicious intent that he had the summer before, and he isn't truly evil. (See the shopping cart scene.) But just because Heinz has the capacity to do good doesn't mean that he's stopped having the capacity to do great evil still!!! Doof returns to evil, and the first thing he does is literally vaporize a member of Perry's family (albeit accidently), and then deliberately uses said human being that he vaporized to create a Tri-State Area conquering storm!!!!! An action that could have easily killed or harmed people, ESPECIALLY Linda, who I must remind you IS A MEMBER OF PERRY'S FAMILY!

Perry wants Heinz to be and do good things! Perry wants to be on Doofenshmirtz's side! Perry has been nothing but patient, helpful, and supportive for Heinz through all of this! So Doof returning to evil HAS to sting for Perry! Hell, since we know that Perry has invested actual money in Doofenshmirtz's turn to good, is Perry now financially complicit in Heinz' evil actions!??? Did Perry's own money end up going into the machine that literally vaporized Linda!??????

Like... If we were to take doing evil as a metaphor for other self-sabotauging and self-destructive actions, this would be like Perry being the most kind, helpful friend in supporting Heinz through his like... I dunno... Deeply harmful drug problem, only for Heinz to decide to start doing a summer of cocaine after 9 months of being sober, and the first thing he does as part of this summer of cocaine is to punch Perry's sister in the face.

Like, yeah! When no one thought that Heinz could change or be better, Perry stood by and did everything that he could to help Heinz! (You know. Within reason and wouldn't come at the cost of himself.) And then Heinz just went back to do the very thing that Perry was helping him to not do! Heinz betrayed Perry's trust in him. So like... Yeah! After everything, Perry has a bit of a right to be mad at Heinz! And if this is what Heinz wants to do, for Perry's own sake, he had better put down some boundaries! If Heinz wants to be evil again, that's fine, but Perry won't be playing nice with him anymore! If he does something evil, no leniency, Perry will have to firmly put those actions down because that's his job. If Heinz is evil, they can't be friends. If Heinz wants to be nemeses with Perry again, then Perry will play the part. After everything that Perry did for Heinz, this is entirely fair and warranted! Because unlike a certain other doomed Dwampyverse pairing, Perry isn't a pushover and wouldn't take this kind of treatment laying down!

So Perry being less personable and more violent towards Doof after his return to evil? Understandable! Fair! Warranted! Good! It's what they both deserve!

Presenting..... Time Traveling Perry!, because like Heinz said, he's needs an adventure buddy. (Fun lore stuff below the cut!)

I love the time loops of Milo Murphy's Law, there was one thing that bugged me.

Heinz's Professor Time Getup is semi-inspired by Dr. Zone who is inspired by Cavendish, who I think dresses the way he does because of Professor Time.

Time Ape is based on Dakota but.... yeah that's it. And well, anything to put the Platypus in an outfit. I gave him a red short sleeve button down that has the Professor Time logo (I made up based on that bag of chips). Goggles (seems to be the standard for time travelers) and some comfy pants to round out the fit. Also yes, that's his locket with Phineas and Ferb's picture in it. Dakota wears a chain so I figured itd be a nice parallel. (Plus we just need to see that thing more often.)

You can't. Tell me. He wouldn't go with Heinz. You can't. I have ... So many thoughts about post canon it makes me ill. Also, if you've somehow read this and not watched MML sorry I've spoiled you,but you should still watch it anyway. It's gold.

I hope that Perry is still in Doof’s life in some way during the Professor Time Era.

There better not be some 3rd break up where Doof doesn’t see him for years only to return 15 years in the past and try to steal that timeline’s Perry because things with his own Perry are irreparable.

He better not disguise himself as his past-self to trick Perry and have an ‘existence collapsing in on itself’ type of disaster that needs preventing.

And it better not be revealed that Doof has barely become Professor Time and risked existence just because of a dumb misunderstanding with his own Perry.

That would absolutely suck.
