i also suppose it depends on how you portray big scary man with stabby knifedeath. there’s a difference between disturbing and scary, and i agree disturbing can be a lot worse than scary at times.

i was thinkin in terms of like Friday the 13th or Halloween and othersuch rip-offs but i guess you could say theres a difference between big scary men w/ stabby knifedeath in those kinds of films and in films like Saw or Hostel 

yeah i guess whats "scary" is a really really individual kind of experience but ive always found disturbing stuff to be much worse and i guess bcs of that the characters i create that i consider to be scary are people like Joseph and Dexter and not. people like Stephen or Caleb who i guess would more generally be shown as the scary bad guys because theyre Big and Mean and can Hurt You

okay yeah getting violently attacked is scary when ur facing it in real life but if ur just reading about a character i think. that watching someone get psychologically destroyed can be much more?? disturbing and unsettling and i think thats closer to true fear than thinking. oh no the big scary man might get the hero u feel
