Which OC of yours could be considered the most neutral, like, morally? Odd question, I know, but I'm curious.
i LOVE odd questions
most of my ocs are fairly disreputable people but on the sliding scale from very good if not always very easy to deal with (Sawjoy, Blaiddyn) to demons (Burn Scars) the ones id put square in the middle would be Rudy and Atticus, particularly Rudy.
Atticus is neutral but theyre probably still pretty good like theyre definitely a “means to an end” type person but her ultimate goal is still to help people, even if his methods arent always morally sound. they are generally a pretty selfish and disloyal person as well, so shes not always particularly that sympathetic in what he does. but i mean, in the end their results are good, so how bad is it? their neutral is more video game type “gaming the system” neutral where you just balance out good and bad deeds in a binary system.
Rudy, on the other hand, is more true neutral. his priority is firstly his friends, and secondly revenge. hes worked as both a supervillain and a superhero and decided that he doesnt like either side; Rudy finds any kind of labelling or expectations incredibly constraining and would rather work outside of the system in order to benefit his friends the most.
because Rudy’s goals are largely unselfish; he wants to help his friends and he wants to tear down a corrupt system that has hurt them. he doesnt care about his personal image or gain - or i guess the gain for him is that the people he loves benefit. but hes also very willing to break laws, kill, and hurt people without guilt because theyre just not the people he cares about.
essentially, if you arent Vince or Blaiddyn you cant rely on him. he will use you if he thinks its going to be beneficial for him. for someone who appears so passive and gentle hes shockingly manipulative.
in both cases the characters just have a very limited pool of things they care about, but w/ Atticus its a much wider, more generally perceived as Noble cause, but w/ Rudy its even more limited and hes willing to do a lot worse. he also has one good end goal, but his methods are unnecessary. he could have easily worked within legal systems to fight corruption within superheroes but he instead chose to operate as a free, illegal agent on the outside because that way he got to break laws and do what he wanted without constraint.
