Final CV
Business cards using MOO
I’ve sent off my business cards and I’m waiting for them to arrive. I’m excited for the outcome and I’m really happy that I’ve completed my design and that I will have a business card to produce to people and be able to say It’s mine.
I decided to use moo.com due to my peers suggesting it and due to the range of products they offer. Going through the process online, i felt that it was really easy and straight forward, which has given me confidence in the quality and customer care that moo present through their website. It’s allowed me also to feel finalised with an element of this project and honestly I’m very excited to gain my business cards.
However there is a possibility that they will not be delivered in time. Which is really gutting because I’ve worked hard and really pushed myself within this project, however I will still have the opportunity to allow my tutors to reference them through a moc I intend to create. Although this in reflection is not professional; with this whole project being based on this, it’s disappointing that they can’t be doe any quicker. However I feel like this is learning curve and allows me to reflect and really understand through experience what I need to achieve to really be professional and become a graphic designer.
Inninotive Website Design layouts (Part II)
http://sundaybestdesigns.com/ Website Design: This is a lovely bright website that shouts out professionalism, The page's use of typography is really suitable and it also stands out against the color with a slight drop shadow. This brings us straight into focus into the page & the image on the right. The logo is very bold and bright also matches the userbar placed at the top with the stitched clothing effect. I like the presentation of this site but not the fact its a purely scroll down site as i find it takes away from this site that it doesn't refresh to a new link of the website but just scrolls down endlessly. What i do like though about the scrolling is how a different colored background is introduced every-time you scroll down past a certain title. This helps to split the website up in itself while also making you aware you are in a new section of the single page website. I would like the make my page stand out like this one with imagery such as vector & bold titles.
http://owltastic.com/ website: here is another good example of website design this website has a lovely user interface as you scroll down all the information is available on the left & Right sides including the logo, Also as most websites the links are on the top part of the page. This is how i would like to make my website look possibly presentation wise having all the information you may need around the page but having other tabs linking off to other parts of the site. The monotone blue colour pallete works well as it clashes against other feature colours well presenting them giving you attention to the content of the site. The use of typography is a nice round bolded font supported by a rounded subtitle also. The body copy is a nice sans serif which works well in contrast.
http://foodsense.is/ website design: Here is a really minimalistic site that features a nice use of white and open space giving contrast again to the work not the site. I like how the tab & logo are placed on the left of the site which is a bit different and also how each tab has a nice icon next to it to add to the sites unique personality. this i ma attempt on my page having quirky images to link to social media site etc. This is something that most pages will take into consideration and so should i. I believe the grid here is a 3/4 column grid and is split up evenly across the page allowing to also list information as you scroll down this brings focus as the website isn't distracted by lots of colour and the white space helps it grab our attention.
Single Page Website Design Research (Part I)
http://two24studios.com/ Website: Here is the first website i found for inspiration into creating my own self promotion site. Looking at it you can tell it is strong visually, The black contrasts well with the bright neon colors the page designer has used. These separate the parts of the single page up into various section with the use of tabs at the top of the page. by clicking these tabs you can be directed to (scrolled down) to the section you want to visit. The website seems to focus on a 3 column grid in the middle of the webpage. This is a nice and simple linear design i would like to concentrate on. When designing horizontally i feel it doesn't flow as well as the page should. Therefore learning from this page i would like to create a smart highly presented imagery & flashy website design.
http://www.jasonreedwebdesign.com/ Website:Here is another example at a single page website. This uses tabbed slides to present all the information he needs to express to the viewer fast and efficiently. I like this feature but i feel it limitsto what you can design a website for, i would prefer to make my page more personal and expressive of my talents by spreading it out. continuing out the grids are really present on this site like some are as its very small but if i were to guess i would say its a 3 column grid in the middle and the designer has spread the text against the first 2 columns and placed a image in the third. The colour palette is a nice clean silver/chrome this presents the web designer to be clean & professional and keeps to the set standards of expectation.
http://ftdesigner.net/ Website: Here is the final example of a single page website, this uses the vertical feature to its furthest potential. The userbar is placed on the left side of the page as well as the top. Each time you click on a user icon it scrolls down the page for you to that particular place. The black background is meant to gives focus to the designers work which is being preview. Therefore showing that your viewing his work not just this website.
