Developing my analogue portfolio
Creating consistency though out my personal identity materials, iāve kept a consistent linear design within my portfolio. Iām really happy with my approach and design development within these deliverables.Ā
We are utterly, incredibly, massively, fabulously, overwhelmed and grateful to announce that Bestival has won Best Major Festival at this yearās UK Festival Awards! Thank you so much for voting for us - as an independent festival it means a lot to us to win such an accolade in amongst so many great festivals. Thank you!

Starting to really enjoy this blogging businessĀ
Business cards using MOO
Iāve sent off my business cards and Iām waiting for them to arrive. Iām excited for the outcome and Iām really happy that Iāve completed my design and that I will have a business card to produce to people and be able to say Itās mine.Ā
I decided to use moo.com due to my peers suggesting it and due to the range of products they offer. Going through the process online, i felt that it was really easy and straight forward, which has given me confidence in the quality and customer care that moo present through their website. Itās allowed me also to feel finalised with an element of this project and honestly Iām very excited to gain my business cards.Ā
However there is a possibility that they will not be delivered in time. Which is really gutting because Iāve worked hard and really pushed myself within this project, however I will still have the opportunity to allow my tutors to reference them through a moc I intend to create. Although this in reflection is not professional; with this whole project being based on this, itās disappointing that they canāt be doe any quicker. However I feel like this is learning curve and allows me to reflect and really understand through experience what I need to achieve to really be professional and become a graphic designer.Ā
Studio day & Talk with CatherineĀ
Getting the opportunity to catch up with my tutor is always productive as it enables me to gain a proffesional opinion and an outside perspective on my work. Talking through the development and process of my buisness card designs I discussed how I've moved forward and showing my final approach to the proffesional context unit deliverables of buisness cards,I gained a helpful insight. Giving an honest opinion it was agreed that the black and white approach was the best design as it allowed focus on the linear structure and made the design stand out. Which has given me more confidence and appreciation for my final design, which I know intend to send off to get printed.Ā
The conversation then begun to consider how my design could be transfered into other personal identity materials, such as my cv. We discussed how this design could possibly be directly transfered and also how I could possibly us the linear design towards greeting a grid for the written content of my cv. Having this conversation has allowed motivation to start to explore further my cv. The conversation has then touched upon transferring my interests within this project to the next, giving me a clearer idea of how to initially approach the new brief and continue the motivation and enjoyment of the proffesional context brief.
InterestingĀ
āI think brands often miss the point - you donāt have to have your brand name in massive flashing lights. You can do things a subtle way and still be associated with itāĀ
This quote really caught my attention, specifically due to the project Iām currently working on. Iāve never really liked branding, I feel Itās a process that has to please everyone else but yourself and I want to design because I enjoy it and love it, not because someone else does. Branding can beĀ soĀ samey andĀ obvious that it justĀ doesnātĀ grab my attention. However seeing this in the creative review article You Had To Be There has really made me realise that maybe itĀ doesnāt. Maybe I can include my personal approach and still be true to the brand and my own ethos. Which actually has gotten me very keen to start designing and create a brand that speaks to my audience but without loosing what I enjoy and uphold my own values and approaches to design.Ā
Skype ChatĀ
Having all emailed JDO our elevator pitch and brief mood boards we sat down and had a meeting with JDO, to discuss and acknowledge one anotherās ideaās, to gain feed towards our development with the project.Ā
Individually discussing our approaches with two of the memberās from JDO we got the opportunity to see what our peers were up to and listen in on their feed back. Which was really useful to understand what JDO are really looking for.Ā
When It came to my discussion, I explained my ideas and thoughtās on the brief based on the moodās boardās I created. Explaining to both memberās of the team that I was stuck and struggling with design development. As I feel my concept is strong and works well within the brief given, visual and graphic design approaches have felt difficult. Yet within the discussion both members of the team positively understood and responded to my concept and made suggestions of how I could approach the design. Both suggesting that I know focus on the design based purely on my ethos, by looking into how I can design based on a cost saving, Que. saving and interactive, creative approach. Explaining that I could really play on my approach to these elements of this brief within my design.Ā
This has given me strength within my design ideaās and has now gotten me excited for my approach towards putting pen to paper and creating more deliverables for this brief.Ā
One element that I really took away from this experience was aimed at a few of my peers; suggesting that the key point from youĀ āBig Ideaā must communicated and needs to be specific towards the visuals swell as the concept. Iām really glad this was brought up as it isĀ drilled into my brain that this is what they are looking for and that I need to complete a constant connection between Idea and Design. I also really appreciate the JDO team taking the time to complete this meeting with us as it is valuable tool towards developing my approach.Ā
