Fandoms

OK maybe not fandom technically since I don’t participate in fandom forums or write fandoms (I do follow some tumblr fandoms though) but productions that I really like are (yes I am totally procrastinating with updating an interview guide for the program evaluation right now):

-The Nightmare Before Christmas

-Phineas and Ferb

-Sander’s Sides

Historically I have also liked Star Trek productions but I haven’t seen most of the recent movies and stuff.  Steven Universe may also come up as a production that I really like but it hasn’t hooked me yet.  

The Nightmare Before Christmas and Star Trek (Next Gen, Deep Space 9, and Voyager) I saw when they were live media.  Phineas and Ferb I saw because my nephew was watching it; I realized that the show actually had a lot of content geared towards adults watching with kids though.  Sander’s Sides I was tipped off too as a metaphor for OSDD.  Steven Universe everyone has recommended and I’ve also seen a lot of references to Steven universe in a multiplicity context (I haven’t watched enough episodes to say anything about that though). 

OK, ugh, I guess I should go back to ordering interview questions :-(

Massive Deep Clean Accomplished

My friend, his grandmother, and dog have moved in.  George (his dog) and Darcy (my fur baby) get along.  Home health care has been re-directed to this address.  Fridge is stocked with seltzer water, beer, wine, and veggies.  Soup is cooked.  Massive amounts of recycling and trash are ready for pick up.  Sometimes I’m happy with what I’ve accomplished.  (Also speaking of accomplishment I entered training quality questionnaire and opinion survey data from three police trainings today.  Next step is writing my eval report!)  Heard back from a clinical data manager position that is part time and pays 30-35 an hour today.  That would be ideal because I could squeak by on it and have flexibility to collect massive amounts of data in October for the program evaluation I’m doing.  Hoping that pulls thru!  Also applied to two more Centers for Disease Control and Prevention fellowships on Friday.  One of them would be doing spatial epidemiology, which I love, so I really hope I get a call back.

Long Day

It started at 8am with a series of police trainings for the program I’m evaluating.  Then I met with my thesis student.  Then I went to prepare for a lecture I’m giving tomorrow and applied for a job coordinating community based participatroy research programs.  It ended with an interesting question though asking if I felt that OSDD affected my emotional maturity.  I think my experiences have made me unique (there is no one on Earth that I know that wants to study what I want to academically), and I’ve had to draw on emotional maturity to get there.  At the same time I have a damaged emotional system thanks to my experiences.  It occurs to me that people with dissociative disorders are both emotionally mature and emotionally damaged.  Thanks PTSD

Phew?

I knocked out several report type items that I’ve had on my to do list for a while, some of them for several months.  I should feel happy and accomplished now but for some reason I am obsessing about the remaining items on my to do list that I want to cross off.  I have a few items that will take me longer than expected.  My report for the program evaluation will take me until the first week of March because I want to incorporate my thesis student’s work and I have a six day vacation towards the end of February.  The analysis I’m working on where I’m saying that we need to look at trauma and dissociation among people of color and not just predominately white people will take me longer to do because the R class I’m taking online does not cover the necessary basics.  I’m impatient to know R already so I can work on that and several other projects.  I learned more about the variables that someone wants to hire me to create too.  I think I’m going to have to contact the depart of health whose data I’d be using to see if the data would actually be sufficient to create the variables.  I’m hoping that I don’t have to pool across years to create the variables because doing that in R and bothering with survey weights sounds like a lot of coding trial and error.  Err, onwards and upwards?  I wish I felt happier about what I accomplished today.

Accomplishment and contention

I finished reconciling the police qualitative file today.  And I received additional coded stakeholder interviewers today from the good coder that I have to transfer over.  So yeah I feel accomplished.  Also feeling like maybe my “trauma” symptoms are better explained by ADHD.  Like, I don’t met the technical criteria for ADHD because I actually perform better on a continuous performance test than people without ADHD, but I still think I might have it and that that causes my hyperarousal.
