Found this in my drafts today. Don't remember when I started the post, but thought I'd share to celebrate my love of pasta.

Word of the day: Forsooth
Indeed (often used ironically or to express surprise or indignation)
Confusion
CN: Confusion about OSDD diagnosis; mention of parents and abuse; universalizing experiences; confusion about how OSDD-1a parts are different than what non-dissociative people expeirence (in nature but not function of parts.)

I have such a hard time understanding why I have an OSDD diagnosis for two reasons:
1. I don't see my childhood as different from other people's childhoods. This does not mean that I don't see the failings of my parents, or that I do not understand that some people have great relationships with their parents and that their parents weren't mean or scary when they were kids. It just means that I think what I experienced as a kid is the norm. I think people who have loving and supportive parents are a minority, and that most parents are abusive to their kids.
2. I do not understand how my parts are different from the parts of self that non-dissociative people talk about. My parts aren't elaborated and don't have a sense of self. They are literally just different mindsets, but they're all me. I acknowledge that they hijack me more often and more strongly than non-dissociative people's parts hijack them, but I see this as my parts functioning differently than non-dissociative people's parts rather than my parts being different in nature from non-dissociative people's parts.
In these two regards it may make sense for me to work with a framework like internal family systems therapy, which uses parts of self as framing to see all people, except I feel like the concept of parts in any regard has become too gummed up for me to work with at all.
Word of the Day: Quiddity
The ingerent natire of essence of someone or something. A distinctive feature; a peculiarity.
Nothing to do with quidditch, lol.
Political musings
1. Will Raffensberger (Secretary of State in Georgia pressured by Trump to change the vote) go democrat after experiencing the negative pressure he has from Republicans?
2. How many Republicans smell blood in the water and will vote to impeach Trump? (There are several saying or indicating they would vote to impeach.)

Word of the day: Hobbledehoy
Hobbledehoy HA-bəl-dee-hoy Part of speech: noun Origin: Unknown, mid 16th century A clumsy or awkward youth. Examples of Hobbledehoy in a sentence "I felt like a real hobbledehoy at my first job." "Now that Jennifer's braces were off, she was ready to leave her days of being a hobbledehoy behind."
Word of the day: Campanology
Campanology kamp-ə-NAH-lə-jee Part of speech: noun Origin: Latin, mid 19th century The art or practice of bell-ringing. Examples of Campanology in a sentence "We knew he played the piano, but his expertise at campanology surprised us." "The art of campanology is kept alive during the holiday season."
This showed up on my windows log in today and it was too adorable to not share. Enjoy! [Image description: Meerkat with pups. The parent and the pup right underneath are looking right at the camera. There are two other pups in the photo. The meerkats looking right at the camera look like they are smiling.]
Word of the Day: Lagom
WORD OF THE DAY Lagom LAH-gawm Part of speech: noun Origin: Swedish, early 19th century The principle of living a balanced, moderately paced, low-fuss life. Examples of Lagom in a sentence "My resolution for next year is to slow down and embrace the principle of lagom." "Renee is a model of lagom — I've never seen her the slightest bit perturbed."
[I get word of the day emails. I just really liked this one and think I need to aspire to lagom. Copy pasting it is fast so I thought I’d share. ; - ) Maybe I’ll try to do semi-regular words of the day!]
Life Beyond Depression
Guess who actually felt happy today and had energy to clean? : - ) I have had itchy and watery eyes all this year because of not dusting in years because of depression, so actually having energy to do this and wanting to and enjoying it is a big deal.
Just me and Divine Mistress Supreme Being. (Image description: Me with Darcy Dog Dog a 30 pound reddish brown hound who is the most amazing being in all of existence. Also yes I am intent on saturating Tumblr with Darcy images).
Am*z*n
Was dropping off my ballot for a run off for the seat left by John Lewis (not the senate run offs) and heard a news story on how am*z*n is spying on employees and preventing unioninzation. This holiday season and ever please let's not use am*z*n. It's less convenient but many stores can be ordered from directly, and there are lots of independent bookstores that can be supported instead. Bezos does not need more of our money and supporting him is supporting a cold blooded mass murderer: he knows what the situation is and is actively seeking to put employees at risk. His actions also put you at risk whether or not you work at am*z*n, since am*z*n employees do not live on a different planet.
Snow
There was snow today in Atlanta. It kinda makes the whole "it's really cold out" thing more real. It's not just me. It is actually cold. Also, snow is pretty.

Carolina Reaper Peppers
I ate a tortilla chip infused with Carolina Reaper Peppers. It was a one chip challenge since the Carolina Reaper is rated as the hottest pepper. It was good. Right now just my lips are tingling a bit. I wish I could extend this feeling.
