Thesis Statement

Industrial air pollution continually harms the environment and our health. Mobile pollution indicators only give data for the daily pollution sample without showing the long-term pollution data, which is vital knowledge needed for initiating change.

PROPOSAL

My task is to choose a space I want to further explore. The location I choose has to communicate the raw emotion I’m trying to portray only using my camera to get across a certain narrative. The location I have found interesting was an old coffee house right behind Te Aro hidden away and not noticed; awkward beauty that captured my attention. I chose this "space" because it was different from all the generic destinations everyone is drawn to, this is an ordinary street that has two old buildings that struggle to fit into its environment and the architecture in the city today with all the big buildings and apartments. I didn’t necessarily pick a location close to home because I live all the way in Upper Hutt but it is still easily accessible and in a public area. I don’t tie any memories, only feelings. This location makes me think about the development and growth and how the big shiny new buildings come in and replace this colourful coffee house that still holds more personality than the streamlined and perfected buildings that only reflect the personality of the busy people around them.
