Styles of Art Project - Halfway Point
For this assignment, I had to draw a picture of a little wicker bird in the three styles of art using different media. At this point, I have drawn all three images (representational, abstract, and nonobjective), and added marker to the nonobjective image. I still have to add value in pencil to the abstract and color, value, and texture to the representational image.
Representational Self Portrait Project - Halfway Point
For this project, I had to grid a photograph and the full size drawing paper proportionately. I then had to use drawing pencil to correctly recreate a selfie I took with realistic values.
At this point in time, the skin, facial features, and hair have value added to them. The values on the hair haven’t been fully blended yet, and I have yet to add value to my shirt, accessories, and the background.
Creating Space Project - Halfway Point
For this project, I have to use 5/6 of the ways to create space. I chose to use overlapping, size, placement, linear perspective, and shading. So far, overlapping (the townspeople silhouettes drawn over the top of each other to distinguish who is in the front), size (Dipper and Pacifica being bigger than the townspeople since they are closer), placement (Dipper and Pacifica being closer to the viewer than the townspeople), and linear perspective (the floor) have been used. Once colored pencil is added, I will create shading.
While choosing the colors, I started by putting Dipper and Pacifica in the colors matching the clothing they were wearing in the episode Northwest Mansion Mystery (Dipper in his usual garb and Pacifica in the dress she wore in the beginning of the episode [x]). The outside will be based around the Gravity Falls valley and waterfall, so it will be greens, browns, and blues for the grass, trees, cliff, and waterfall. The sky will be a sunset based on a sunrise I saw on my way to school one morning.
Principle of Design Project - Halfway Point
I drew the principle “unity” for my project. To do so, I drew a photograph of the top of my bookshelf that I took sometime last year. Everything in the photograph sits in harmony with the objects around it. So far, I have drawn the 1″ border around the 10″x10″ paper. I have also colored the box, binder, and ¾ of the books in the box, leaving the rest of the objects and the wall to be colored yet. I also have to add shading and texture. The colors I have chosen to use on this project match the colors of the objects as they are in the photograph.
