Fatal frame first timers need to stop playing ff5 first and play ff4 instead. And ff5 enjoyers need to try ff4.

Ff4 is so much better and the sexualization and objectification of the girls isn't nearly as blatant. Ff4's plot might be a bit hard to understand the first go 'round, but the visuals and general aesthetic of the game are so creepily beautiful and the game play is so fun that you'll want to play it a second time anyway.

Also, it has no character ruining via incestuous ghost marriage.

Also, for the toxic yuri enjoyers, Misaki and Madoka are adorable and they're just subtle enough for it to not be so frustrating that it isn't canon. (Looking at you, Rui. And also Yuri. And Hisoka... And Haruka and also Fuyuhi.)

But they're just really good friends.

ANYWAY. ff4 will make you scared, make you cry, make you want to steal the characters' wardrobes, the works.
