yes, i have heard of it & plan to listen
i have only heard of it
no, i have never heard of it
I'm currently making my way through what I refer to as the 'Project' series (i.e. Project: Twilight, Project: Lazarus, etc) and when I tell you that I have Nimrod is one of the most disturbing villains I have ever come across I am not joking. Nimrod is what happens when the military gets hold of aliens, things they don't understand, things they think that they can use to their advantage. Nimrod's experiments are particularly disturbing, especially his experiments regarding regeneration (poor Sixie).
I just....I need a moment. Holy shit this is so dark and visceral. Amazing audios. I'm just speechless by how fucked up it gets.
Oooo tell me about Lazarus/Devil's Backbone pls and thanks
(curious about my WIPs?)
JESSSS this is the PERFECT fic for you to have asked about omg omg
So it's the canon-divergent sequel to and our walls fall like jericho and it's got that sweet, sweet Wolfwood angst. The original working title was Lazarus, but I've been listening to Devil's Backbone (this specific cover) a LOT recently and it's just become like one of my ultimate Vashwood songs and the lyrics really fit this fic.
To set the scene:
You are Nicholas D. Wolfwood
You couldn't tell Vash you love him, even though you're choking on the feeling
You both cry in the hours after; neither of you acknowledge this
You go together the next day to fuck up his brother and put an end to a hundred and fifty years of misery
You watch Vash erase an entire city from the map and himself along with it
You couldn't tell Vash you love him, and now you'll never get the chance
So, you know. Poor man's a little fucked up with grief and rage and regret and what have you, after experiencing THE worst event in his horrible terrible no good life.
He ends up back at Adina's with Meryl after it all goes down (BLESS everyone who enjoyed her I'm really looking forward to developing her through this), but he doesn't stay there for long. Vash's death ("death") has fundamentally broken him; he is not in his right mind when he begins running toward July, dead set on finding Vash. After attempting and failing to stop him, Adina and Meryl travel behind him just in case he like. Does something MORE drastic.
But, miracle of miracles, after hours, days of digging, rubble littered with blood and fingernails and tears...he finds Vash. And Vash is alive, albeit barely.
Adina hauls everyone back to her place, and Wolfwood gets his chance to pour all his feelings out above Vash's comatose body.
But Vash...doesn't wake up. He's not dead, but he doesn't wake up, and as the days wear on, Wolfwood begins to realize that Vash really does need him as a caretaker now.
And basically it's a long, extended Wolfwood character study about finding himself, working through his shit, and learning what it really means to love (as a verb, not a feeling) someone.
I'm fucking STOKED to really sink my teeth in now that I'm not balls to the wall busy, and looking forward to developing his relationship to Vash through his relationships with the other people helping him through this over the course of months.
(also ofc Vash wakes up at the end and they actually get that nice cathartic reunion confession and cry and that's exciting too)
"Mind you, Evelyn never forgave you, right up to the very end"
well now im scared
🍎 rotten 🍎
