Nostalgia Strikes Back [Jellal & Ultear] - Part 2

Hearing the teasing about her past tendencies only resulted in a sigh and shift of her stance. “Scheming? No. Reflecting and observing? Definitely,” she answered plainly while walking over to join Jellal by the window. He would never let her live it down that she had almost destroyed the world on multiple occasions via her manipulation and plotting.

“Just wondering if you were thinking about the tower yet again. You always get this look on your face when you start to think about it…” Her expression changed back to the smirk and amusement she held before, wondering if he would ever feel like he could move on and let it all go. They had done plenty of hunting and defeating of dark guilds, but their work was never done. Not as long as there were Zeref sympathizers and extremists still roaming about.

Jellal could not help but chuckle softly some at her response, in some ways Ultear did not change since their council days together, trying to out manipulate each other back then aside. But he could sense the shift of the atmosphere between them as she walked closer to him, she could already guess what he was thinking with just one glance, and so he wondered how his face could be such a open book to read that easily.

“I suppose the eyes are the windows to the soul after all, but then again, it has always been hard to hide anything from you, Ultear.” He closed his eyes and smile gently at the fact, she saw right through him as always. “I was, every time we take down another dark guilt, I am reminded of the tower I made the others complete for my ambitions back then.”

To this day, he did not blame Ultear for manipulating him the whole time. For her to be able to do that, he had to also agree with he deep down, that was how he was rationalising things anyway. “I assume you do not, you played a minor role in that after all.” Jellal added with a faint smile, he would not blame Ultear for his own actions, but was not as ignorant to say she played no part at all.

In these short 3 months they were allowed, Fairy Tail members left their guild temporarily to go train for the upcoming Grand Magic Games. A long day has come to an end, and way past everyone’s bedtime. One person in particular found it difficult to sleep. Though the occurrence was highly uncommon, every now and then Elfman too found himself sleepless. Rather, having trouble sleeping?

Carefully leaving his tent, not to wake up his sisters or Cana as he did, the large man stepped out into the open air. If only thanks to the stars light, the river would be illuminated. He would have an easy time filling the canteen once he’s done drinking. Though, a small animal soon creeped up from behind, making its way into the still-open tent. Elfman would only hear it once it flung out. “Hey!!” Silently calling it out, the large man closed the canteen and hung it around his neck, giving chase to the small animal; watching as it ran off with, surprisingly, their map.

Getting further away from camp than he was willing to. “Come back!! If you’re a Man, drop the map and go somewhere else!!” Though to no avail. Very regrettably so, Elfman would come to lose the little rodent in his chase too!!

This icon and the headcanon that Jellal and Ultear snuck in to watch the live action Lion King illegally because they can, pretty much sums up our Jeltear ship lmfao.

Jellal did promise Ultear they’d take the day off to relax today, but Jellal was still a wanted man. Luckily he could still just pretend to be Mystogan, though he looked just even more ridiculous and suspicious, covering his face like that while on the beach.

“Well of course they do, Jellal. It’s fun. Maybe you should give it a try sometime?” she commented with a purr, placing her hand on his chest and softly rubbing and caressing him. “All work and no play will kill you early, Jellal…”

Jellal was evidently losing it as the Lickening continued throughout the masses, he was being borderline paranoid right now. For once he didn’t know how to combat such Dark Magic, but Ultear managed to calm him down with her very touch, even though she was just teasing him as per usual. “You’re right, Ultear. I’ve allowed myself to be consumed by this phenomenon, so I will stop working for now, but still I refuse to lick.” He admitted with a sigh, resting his body against Ultear’s tiredly, he was just mentally exhausted at this point, with his recent irrational worrying. 

“Hm, you smell nice, as always.” Jellal took her scent in, it usually being a reassuring one, as it meant she was there to back him up in battle. She lifted his spirits when he was having doubts, and he could talk to her about anything without any judgement. So as much as she did manipulate him over the years, he did appreciate her help after. They were both atoning, and it was fitting that they do it together as well.

@projectionoftime // Ultear decides its a good idea to just randomly nip at Jellal’s neck. No warning, no explanation, just a coy smirk and teeth on the “classified” spot.

“Ultear what are you-” Jellal wondered at her sudden appearance, only to feel her nip at his neck. making him shiver uncontrollably and leaning into her for a split second before he regained his composure. “Is this payback for before?” He asked her with a light sigh and calming breath, seeing as he did tease her to her limits just before a Dark Guild raid before.
