Here is how the chair looked before- you can see it does have a shine to it, but the paint held great. I painted a small test area first to see if I should sand beforehand but when it dried I couldn't even scratch or chip it with my nails! American Paint Company paint bonds incredibly well- better than any other chalk-type paint I've tried.
