SYNOPSIS
It's all fun and games until someone catches feelings.
If there's something Pio Alvez is good at, it's pretending to be someone he's not. On stage and on-screen, the actor has mastered the art of becoming the characters he plays, and his new role should be no different. After all, how difficult would it be to pretend to be smitten with a beautiful, intelligent go-getter like Audrey Alonzo?
Perhaps it's more difficult pretending not to be.
NOTE: FINALLY! I’ve been struggling to post this review here in my tumblr blog. There were some problems with our internet connection and the site was also temporarily blocked in here. This review was posted first in goodreads.com. I hope this still helps in the promotion of Ms. Tara’s *awesomeee* new book. Hehehehe
I got the ARC of Like Nobody’s Watching in exchange of an honest review and here it is: Fake-dating. Theater. Pio Alvez. The three things stated above are enough to convince me that I need to read Ms. Tara’s new novel. And I'm glad I signed-up for the blogtour! This book made me feel a mix of emotions (I got kilig over everything that Pio did, angry at Luigi bcos hell he’s the worst!, happy that Audrey is such a strong woman, etc. etc.. Haha!) And to say that I’ve enjoyed reading will be truly an understatement. In all honesty, I was excited for this ever since I read The End on the last page of Waiting In The Wings because I know that in this one, Pio will finally have his well-deserved happily ever after. And he did! With the very beautiful and talented girl Audrey who gave another definition to the word ligaya. Aside from making me fall in love with all their sweet moments and conversations, I could say that what made me hooked in this story is the fact that it was still somehow composed of the same group of characters that I learned to love. Teatro Lakambini people were still there even tho their exposure was very minimal. The love for theater and performing was still very evident and it made me really really happy that even Audrey had a background in theater! Some of the scenes were also set in the beautiful city of Baguio (Huhu Happy Place!) and… Datu and Gani Alvez.’Nuff said. LOL. But really, what made this special was the fact that this story isn’t just about Pio and Audrey overcoming their respective heartbreaks but also about how they struggled to be the best version of themselves for their chosen career/line of work and, especially, for the happiness of their families. It was also really beautifully written. It’s full of life lessons, charms and wit that will make you believe that everything happens for a reason and that someday, somehow you will find a person who will be there for you through it all. It also featured the reality, hardships and sacrifices that most people made to be successful and happy in life. This will definitely speak straight to the heart of a lot of people who are also struggling on their own. I wish that more people will have the chance to read this to make them feel that they’re not the only one who’s having a hard time and all they have to do is to push forward and to keep going. After reading this book, the number of reasons on why I liked Pio Alvez definitely increased. I even had to remind myself that I’m #TeamRamon!!! Hahaha! Waiting for this book was definitely worth it. It gave me more of what I’ve already expected.
