Making Space
Making Space is a new concept for Dublin, an innovative space, where creative solutions are found for places that are not in use. Making Space attempts to provide space for creators and innovators in the city while acting as a driver in activating creativity by introducing diverse and vibrant work to disused areas, be it an area or a small space. This time round Making Space is set to partner with The Library Project Dublin to present a range of up and coming creatives.
Situated in the heart of Dublin’s Temple Bar and open for 4 weeks, Making Space @ The Library Project will host 4 creatives in-residence, making, doing, exhibiting and talking about their work. A venue that gives creatives a place to work in and engage with the public while providing a platform to showcase new affordable artwork.About:
Curiosity, humour and wit are a predominant feature in their work. Their playful graphics have a bold and simple aesthetic. They are interested in observations and oddities and enjoy taking the familiar and turning it into the surprising. The Project Twins The Project Twins are James and Michael Fitzgerald, an Irish based graphic art duo. They work together in a range of disciplines including art, design and illustration on both personal and commercial projects. They have exhibited throughout Ireland with a solo show in 2011 and several group shows since then including 'Living/Loss’, Lewis Glucksman Gallery, Cork and ‘Extinction’, Visual Carlow.
Their illustration work has been commissioned by various magazines and agencies in Ireland, UK, Europe, America, Asia and Australia. They are members of Illustrators Ireland and Cork Printmakers and work from Sample-Studios in Cork. They are represented by ‘The Illustration Room’ in Australia. Awards include a Merit in the 3x3 ProShow USA, Carlton Best of Festival, and their work has also been featured in the 3x3 Illustration Annual 2012.
Initiated by the PhotoIreland Festival in 2011, The Library Project is a public resource library of over 900 photo books, magazines and fanzines from over 180 publishers, national and international. Its new home in 4 Temple Bar also includes a specialised book and print shop and Making Space is kicking -off a curated programme of events at the upstairs gallery space.
