No one, not even Bruce has seen six drink Clark, but the perfect storm of a frustrating Luthor event, good friends and questionable fashion are about to change all that.

Essentially, PE is writing out a trauma script, almost always in first person, as in, as if it was happening again. Then processing the script, as well as listening to it over and over, whether by reading out loud or by listening to your voice recorded. Then there are exposures to things that trigger you/you avoid that stem from your trauma, ie, a photo of your father.

My therapist is talking about how if I don’t self harm or restrict for 8 weeks, we can begin the PE part. I am terrified. She knows what happened via a word vomit of an email but not the details. I’m scared. I don’t know if I ever want to do PE? What’s it like?

I am so so sorry I’m just getting to this now! That sounds super scary. Honestly I don’t really feel qualified to talk about PE since I was only doing a modified version. Can any of my followers talk to this anon about PE? @undeniableemotions are you doing PE?

Have you ever tried prolonged exposure for PTSD?

Yeah kinda. A while ago while I was at 3East I worked with a trauma specialist and I think we did PE work but I was also really fucking out of it all the time lol

Prolonged exposure therapy is like feeling a part of your mind come out of a dormancy you’re didn’t realize it was in. You’ve been in it for years. It’s terrifying because of the trauma, but the sense of self and remembering is astounding and familiar. It’s like surfacing after being in the darkest depths of the ocean for a long period of time and forgetting what oxygen tastes like (like a sperm whale?). You’re afraid to taste it and breathe because you don’t want to feel the loss of it again.
