Yamato screecap draw-over (Galo from Promare) Yamato is one of my favorites, he's probably first place in my "favorites besides the three I fixate on" list /silly

Just a little something for his B-Day. I didn't have the extra energy for drawing him a proper piece so I decided to do another screencap edit/traceover? Not sure what to call this process exactly... I've done one before with Utsuro like this, a long while back. To be honest, I don't know if this one looks as much like Yamato as the Lio one did for Utsuro-the greyscale lighting doesn't help-but oh well, I had fun anyways.

Original screencap and a little explanation of the process below:

Basically, it's a combination of drawing over and recreating elements (like recreating the BG entirely for this one) and trying to work the new character in lol. I made an attempt at drawing Yamato's hair in this style, I don't know how well it succeeded but it needed to be big to match Promare's aesthetic lol.

Basically it's just: recreate backdrop/glow, sketch trace over screencap, draw Yamato's hair and edit some things about Galo to match him a bit better, do lineart without pen pressure in a matching style and colors to the og, put in colors/shading, then do a little bit of blurring and glow where needed. This background was pretty simple so I just didn't even use the og screenshot or try to blend them and instead made a new one.

It's not that complicated to make fake screencaps like this and can be kinda relaxing (or a good way to analyze the style of the source). I'd recommend trying it if it interests you.
