“Wait a minute. Are you jealous?”

Sirius was more than well aware what James was staring at. Or at whom

„Forget it. She won’t notice you” he said chewing his bread.

„She will. She has to” James insisted, not looking away from Lily who was sitting on the other edge of the table, talking to her friends. „I need to tell her I won’t show up at the prefects’ meeting and she has to excuse me”

„Can’t you tell Remus to do this? He will be there too”

„Yes, but he is not the Head Girl. Lily is”

Sirius rolled his eyes and took a bite of his eggs.

„She won’t help you anyway. She doesn’t like you, remember?”

„Oh, it’s not that bad. We are getting along pretty well lately, you know? Since we both are prefects”

„Oh, really?” Sirius didn’t sound happy for this. His tone was rather sarcastic, as if he didn’t believe it. „Pity it didn’t happen sooner, maybe you two would be already dating now”

James directed his gaze to Sirius.

„Wait a minute. Are you jealous?”

„No” Sirius obviously lied. „Just saying… you used to have a big crush on her after all”

„Yes, you are absolutely right. I used to. But I don’t anymore” James said with a smirk. „Sometimes you are really impossible, you know?” he tilted his head to find Lily again, but Sirius took his chin and turned him to himself to steal a kiss.

„I know. But you love me like this”

James smiled against his lips.

„I sincerely swear I do”
