Loki turned his head away, unable to make any eye contact with Strange. He knew being vague wasn’t helpful but going into detail seemed too....hard. If he went into detail, he would have to relive what had happened, and what had been done to him. It had left scars on him, scars that weren’t visible but still hurt. He knew Strange was only trying to help, but he was asking too much of him.  ❝ Not this time, not for this. I’m sorry, but I just can’t ❞

     He  knew  of  the  Sorcerer  Supreme  having  spoken  to  him  via  telepathy  once  before.  Charles'  telepathy  was  capable  of  stretching  beyond  plains,  but  it  was  a  thing  he'd  never  tried  before  and  his  current  mindset  these  days  had  him  hesitant  to  do  so.  Regardless,  he  had  allowed  Mr.  Stark  to  talk  him into  joining  a  council  that  consisted  of  all  the  important  supers  in  the  universe.  The  Illuminati  they  were  calling  themselves  with  Charles  being  one  of  the  younger  members.  This  group  was  a  way  to  send  information  quickly  to  all  ends  of  the  universe  or  make  decisions  based  on  growing  threats.  

     One  threat  in  particular  led  to  Stephen  handing  Charles  the  mindstone.  It  was  an  object  that  could  likely  morph him  into  the  world's  most  powerful  being  but  Charles  had  no  interest  in  more  power.  The  less  power  in  the  hands  of  someone  part  homo  sapien  the  better  and  that  attitude  alone  gave  the  others  reason  enough  to  believe  Charles  was  worthy  of  keeping  the  stone.  But  Stephen  often  kept  contact;  this  time  choosing  to  drop  in  for  what  he  deemed  a  routine  check.

     ❝Why  don't  you  just  admit  that  you  are  bored,  Stephen,❞   Charles  commented.   ❝And  that  you  were  curious  to  meet  an  actual  mutant.  It's  okay.  Perhaps  I  was  curious  about  you  too.❞

         “   no,   baby,   you   can’t   ---------   ”         balanced   precariously   on   one   hip   is   a   space   helmet,   atop   of   which   a   stack   of   science   books.   free   hand   tries   to   keep   still   an   excitable   four   year   old   who   is,   quite   literally,   trying   to   vibrate   out   of   her   own   skin.   reprimand   cut   short,   both   pairs   of   eyes,   one   dark   and   exhausted   and   one   bright   and   curious,   turn   towards   stephen.   cathy   stills   in   her   fidgeting   almost   immediately,   instead   rushing   to   hide   behind   jess.   she   heaves   a   sigh,   offers   half   a   shrug.         “   hey.   sorry,   i   know   we   were   supposed   to   go   out   and   sh   ---------   stuff,   but   matt   bailed   babysitting   duties   and   i   couldn’t   leave   her   home   alone.   raincheck   ??   ”

She hated going over it, that night, the memory still haunted her. “I don’t know any more than any one else.” Not exactly true. She knew she had faced Voldemort and had lived, which was something that gave her strength, but it helped no one else considering she really didn’t know how she had lived. “I’m sorry--”
