Cat food prices are insane!

I need 680 3 oz cans every 2 weeks to feed my colony. That does not include dry food, litter for inside, treats, vet bills, cleaning supplies, meds, etc.
Every time there a jump like this in pet food prices I get swamped with cats being dumped. I just got 6 dumped since the prices went up again 3 weeks ago.
I am willing to buy bulk but there are no bulk sellers. Why? Manufacturers will not sell direct and claim they have no control over the retail price set by distributors.
I am beginning believe there is a price fixing conspiracy in pet supplies because whenever I find a deal it quickly becomes unavailable. And surprise the prices are about the same across all the distributors! And it happens within about 48 hours that they all increase their prices to the same level!
This industry is directly responsible for the increase in homeless pets, euthanasia, and suffering due to unbridled greed, and price fixing. And it seems only the rescuers are screaming because we are the hardest hit!
The charities supported by pet food distributors save less pets than setting reasonable prices would save. If people could afford to have pets and feed them they wouldn’t need to dump them, abandon them, or starve them.
Coupled with rising veterinary costs, which have also become insane, the critters no longer stand a chance!
I honestly don't know where to turn or what to do next. The 2 week food cost alone is now $500.
So here is my request. Please go to Fancy Feast, ProPlan, Iams, etc. and protest the fact that there is no case price or bulk price or volume discounts provided by them or their colluding, price fixing distributors. That the increases in the last 2 years is detrimental to the well being of too many animals! Flood their websites, FaceBook pages, phone lines, and mailboxes.
This really is an urgent issue. Please share this post more than once!
