Starting out the year with a snow storm today. ❄️ ⛄️ So let’s do a little prop talking. Each of the pieces in this photo is from a different place. Which means prop shopping takes time and thought. It’s taken me years to get pieces that fit the look I’m trying to achieve. And in the beginning I didn’t even know what worked. I look back on my work and see that much of it was a mish mosh of pieces that didn’t really go together. Through trial and error I think I’ve gotten much better at picking pieces that go together and blend with my current style. Don’t get me wrong sometimes I still buy a piece, bring it home and realized what was I thinking. I am an avid thrift store shopper so I will use the piece a couple of times and then give it back to the thrift store. But when I’m spending more money on a piece on Etsy for example I try to be very selective. For example the plate in this photo was $15 not including shipping and for me that’s a lot of money for a singular plate however I have been looking for a plate like this for years and have not been able to find something like this at the thrift store. So I bit the bullet and spent the money and I absolutely love the plate and it will be in the rotation. OK so moral of the story try to make a list of pieces that you’re looking for. When you pick up a piece that you see at a store or online and ask yourself does this blend with my current style? Asking yourself that question and reviewing your list will keep you from buying pieces that don’t go with the look that you’re trying to achieve. So here’s to 2022 and prop shopping. Have a good one and stay safe out there. 💕🤗 . . . . . #props #propshopping #creativelife #slowdownwithstills #smallmomentsofcalm #simplethingsmadebeautiful #happy2022 #thatsdarling #still_life_photography (at Chicago metropolitan area) https://www.instagram.com/p/CYM9Kdnvr0m/?utm_medium=tumblr
