one of my hot takes about people who call themselves proship/profic is that their community and beliefs are inherently racist and queerphobic. if everything is just fiction, and it doesn't affect reality, then propaganda and racist/queerphobic caricatures are also just fiction in their eyes.

the birth of a nation? just a book. the caricatures portraying jewish people as greedy? just lines, get over it. the horribly written trans character who is just a compilation overly exaggerated stereotypes and portrayed as insufferable? just pixels on a screen. that bipoc character who's exaggeratedly violent and says slurs? just fiction, dude. that asian gay character portrayed as a submissive bottom cute twink compared to his boyfriend? also just lines.

but the moment you point this out you're suddenly evil. because all they want is to cling to bullshit arguments in order to justify their attraction and romanticization of abusive dynamics.
