Safety Pin Faith
About a year ago I was preparing for a speaking event on “Fear and God” when I came up with this analogy. I’ve used it at a few other events and groups I’ve done since and it’s always well received. A few people have asked me to write it down so they can remember and share it – so here goes. Look at these safety pins. What do you see? One end has a sharp pointy end. It can hurt you if you’re…

Any suggestions for stuff to do prior and during a move into a new house?
It depends what is there already and how you personally feel about sharing your space with spirits or fae or whatever. In short, cleanse it of whatever "stuff" the last people left behind and set the intention for yourself in the new space. This intention can change and your wards of what you allow can change.
Now I'm going to tell a story about stuff I've done with my space and for others:
When we moved into our house over 7 years ago we had it cleaned and blessed by witches. I was still wee witchling then and I didn’t feel ready to clean the house myself. I had moved out of this house over a year earlier but it had been the house that I had lived in with my abusive ex-husband and I thought getting some folks who had a better idea of what they were doing was a good idea. Before we moved in I did a little spell of my own to claim the space. I think claiming space and accepting that you DESERVE that space are very important emotionally and, for the lack of a better word, spiritually.
We light candles and opened all the windows, doors and cabinets and we burned frankincense and myrrh and carried it through the house chanting and ringing bells that we rang in the corners and cabinets and any place "stuff" can linger. I also made some salt water and used some sage from the yard to sprinkle salt water around the house asking all the things that were not positive to leave, or possible for only positive to remain. I can't remember.
I've since done house cleanings, wardings and intentioning(?) a bit differently but it's the same idea: clean the space and claim the space. You might want to live there for a bit before setting up wards to figure out what you will allow in your space. My methods now are a bit more goofy and include me stomping around yelling "GTFO!" burning things and throwing salt all over the place.
You can always do any sort of protection or wards or whatever. You can bury spell jars in the yard, put sigils in places (backs of pictures, under the doormat or under the carpet) you can hide things in plain sight. How about a horseshoe over the door? A bunch of dried herbs for protection hanging on the wall. There's all sorts of things you can do to protect your space once you get it cleaned and to your specifications.
good luck!
