Summary: May and Skye being adorable. Cuteness overload:)))
May first was cold towards Skye but not because she didn't like her but she saw too much of her old self in Skye
But that never meant that she wasn't protective over her Skye
After May offered to train Skye their relationship improved rapidly
Skye also slowly learned to see past her mother figure's mentor's walls and noticed that May was way more than she seemed
Skye always looked up to May, she thought the woman was badass ( she also thought for a short period of time that May was her actual birth mother but never put much faith in it but if she felt sad or alone she would imagine what it would be like, let a girl dream from time to time)
After the whole afterlife thing Skye ( now Daisy) came knocking on May's bunk. She apologised that she had hurt May and also told her that she was the mother she always wished for. At that point Daisy broke down in tears and May pulled her towards her chest and held her while rubbing soothing circles on her back
May would deny it if anyone asked but she also shed a couple of tears while comforting Daisy. She never would've admitted it but she saw Daisy as her daughter for quite some time now. May never though of herself as the motherly type but she promised herself she would never ever let anyone hurt her baby again
When Daisy woke up the next morning to May protectively holding her against her chest, she felt so loved that she began to cry (again)
May just tightened her embrace and murmured some soothing words
After that day May became more affectionate, she let Daisy hold her hand when the girl was never and even returned the bonecrushing hugs most of the time
Nobody dared to mention it, they all wanted to stay alive, thank you very much
When Daisy had nightmares she would often come to May's bunk and cuddle up to her
Coulson and Daisy were the only ones who knew the combination to her bunk so May didn't get startled when sometimes she would feel another body cuddling up to her
She would sometimes her Daisy silently crying and it broke her heart to hear the heartwrenching sobs every time
But as protective May was over Daisy, Daisy was over May. If somebody mentioned even a slightly negative thing about the woman you better run
Daisy once got hurt on a mission while May stayed back at the base, it wasn't a life threatening injury but it still hurted like a bitch so they hooked Daisy up on some morphine. In her drugged state the young girl ask for her mother but nobody knew what she meant. Daisy started to cry and said she wanted May to be here.
When she later woke up in the medbay to May holding her hand she knew everything was going to be alright
When Coulson later came in to check on Daisy he found the two women cuddling on the hospital bed. He silently took some pictures and headed to his office with a grin on his face
Later that day he printed and framed the picture and put it on his desk
