little psa from ur local autonomous street medic:
PLEASE DONT put anything but saline or water near your eyes
PLEASE ENCOURAGE anyone with asthma or breathing issues to back up when chemical munition is imminent
PLEASE ENCOURAGE people to walk not run as much as possible as running makes the reaction worse
PLEASE DONT PUT ANYTHING BUT SALINE OR WATER NEAR YOUR EYES
PSA FOR MY NEW STREET MEDICS
Hitting the streets for the first time tomorrow? Ready to help keep your community safe? HERE ARE A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
Don’t carry supplies you don’t know how to use. Med kit space is precious, don’t waste room by taking things you won’t use.
On that note, if you do not know how to administer a type of aid, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ADMINISTER IT. I have seen far too many tourniquet-happy people recently.
Know what you’re up against. Study up on the oppressors tactics and familiarize yourself with the wounds you might be treating.
DO NOT attempt to flush eyes with milk, antacid, or other non-safe liquids. SALINE AND WATER ONLY!
Bring a trash bag! You are going to be changing your gloves, do not litter!!
Speaking of gloves. Change your gloves between casualties (crazy I have to say that). And don’t wear your gloves if you aren’t helping someone, they will get dirty, and it can cause panic.
Do not spread rumors, do not fear monger.
Wear protective gear: long sleeves, long pants, mask, gas mask, goggles, helmet, etc. Bring changes of clothes (especially socks!!) in case you get bodily fluids or chemicals on your clothing.
Identify yourself as a medic! I wear a vest with a Red Cross and MEDIC sewn onto the back with red fabric.
Travel with AT LEASE one buddy. A solo medic is an off duty medic.
TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!! You cannot help your community without helping yourself. Lean on others, take breaks, ground yourself. Deep breaths, you’ve got this<3
I don’t call things psyops very often but every time there’s a protest and as soon as the ‘don’t violently protest’ ‘don’t leave the published route’ ‘but but law and order’ crowd pops up and gets shouted down there’s always a rash of “don’t use milk to treat [chemical burns on people’s faces]”. They use progressive language. They’ll try to foist it off on being about disabilities or minorities or health. SHUT THAT Down. It’s just more libs saying “be less effective” “it’s less scary when you’re less effective”
Let me be crystal clear. THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO BENEFIT FROM YOU INSISTING ON TREATING PEPPER SPRAY WITH WATER ARE THE POLICE WHO USE IT AGAINST US: the point of pepperspray is to give you no other choice but to rinse your eyes over and over again while they break up the line.
I don’t give these plants the time of fucking day and you know they’re trying to sabotage the movement because every single even remotely legitimate “problem” with using cold milk immediately falls away with vegetable oil, but they’re not pitching oil over milk, they’re pitching BE HELPLESS - JUST SUFFER THE BURN LIKE YOURE SUPPOSED TO PEASANT.
When you are a fucking medic you have one job. You are not their primary care doctor working with their underlying conditions, you are not a bedside nurse there to console them while they suffer through, and you are not their fucking buddy. You have ONE JOB ☝️ get the BODY off the street and BACK into the FIGHTING line BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY.
almost $20 worth of 3 different types of gauze for my medical pack:))
for anyone who's like "why tf do you need so much gauze??" it's because I'm going to be a 'street medic' or a 'protest medic'!! whatever you wanna call it, when i go to protests my main goal is going to help people if they get hurt or injured.
i have a lot more stuff then just gauze for my pack that i might post if anybody's interested, probably gonna yap about it a lot anyways for anybody who cares
there has never been a more relevant time to take a cpr and stop the bleed class. i am not trying to incite undue panic/anxiety here but mass violence, especially against marginalized people and leftist protestors is increasingly likely (and as someone who has been in some extremely high risk and scary situations over the past eight years, i unfortunately know what i'm talking about). at the end of the day it's up to us to keep our communities and loved ones safe. check out your local street medic collective, john brown gun club, or food not bombs to see if leftist groups are offering any free medical trainings in your area.
The American College of Surgeons Stop the Bleed program has prepared nearly 4 million people worldwide on how to stop bleeding in a severely
We should all be so lucky as to have a special interest that does some good.
