Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.
(Proverbs 19:21, ESV)
Proverbs 19:21 (NLT) - You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail.
Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
A Golden Treasury for the Children of God
by Carl Heinrich von Bogatzky
A mans heart deviseth his way, but the Lord directeth his steps. - Proverbs 21:9
There are many devices in a man’s heart, nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand. - Proverbs 19:21
Many pretend to have a clean heart, and a good will, whilst they harbour foolish, and consequently unclean designs in their bosoms. It is said, a good man brings forth good things out of the good treasure of the heart, and it is very true; but observe, that it is said, " out of the good treasure" of the heart; (which is the new man) and not simply out of the heart, for there also, still dwells the old man and evil treasure of sin and corruption, which freely spring up, like the weeds.
Lord, send thy spirit down to write Thy law upon my heart! Nor let my tongue indulge deceit, Nor act a liar’s part.
From vanity turn off my eyes, Let no corrupt design. Nor covetous desires arise Within this soul of mine.
Order my footsteps by thy word, And make my heart sincere; Let sin have no dominion Lord, But keep my conscience clear.
Make me to walk in thy commands; ’Tis a delightful road; Nor let my head, or heart, or hands, Offend against my God.
You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
—2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)
“Faith is not an emotion. It's a decision to stand on God's Word.”
“Walk by Faith and not by Feelings” By Crystal McDowell
“Our feelings change all the time—we can start our day with joy and happiness and before we even get to work—we feel angry about a phone call. If we let our feelings dictate our plans, we would never get anything completed. Part of maturing in our faith is moving beyond our feelings and towards our faith in God. To walk by faith and not our feelings means that:
1. We return good for evil.
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21)
2. We aren’t held in restraint by man’s plans, but rather by God’s agenda.
“Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.” (Proverbs 19:21)
3. We recognize that every day is a gift from God.
“Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” (James 4:14-15)
4. We forgive others as we’ve been forgiven by God.
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” (Colossians 3:13)
5. We continue to serve others even when we don’t always see thankfulness.
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-24)
6. We are compelled by our calling even when it seems in vain.
“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. Only let us hold true to what we have attained.” (Philippians 3:14-15)
PRAYER: Dear Lord, I pray that You will equip me to walk by faith and not by my feelings. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
