666, Proverbs 23:23, Buying Wisdom

This is the infamous 666 verse and its preceding verse

Revelation 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Revelation 13:18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

I want to emphasize that 666 is associated with wisdom and understanding and buying and selling. It does not state the buying and selling is for transactions for goods which most people seem to assume it means.

If 666 is the number of his name then the first person with a gematria of 666 is important.

Strong’s H3506 “Ithran” is the first person in the Bible with a gematria of 666. He is a descendant of Esau who is Edom who is a type of 666.

Esau is the idea of loving the world’s pleasure more than the birthright or God. Rome, the “beast” or “666” of Jesus’ time, was of Edom. The false religious leaders of Jesus time were the false prophet.

Ithran means “advantage”. Its root is Strong’s H3498 = leave, remain, rest, residue

There is another word that has the same common root and means “profit”,”excellence, or “advantage”. It is Strong’s H3504.

Strong’s H3504 is used 10 times all in the book of Ecclesiastes.

It is used for the first time here meaning “profit” with both an original and in use text gematria of 666:

Ecclesiastes 1:3 What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?

It is used in the 666th chapter of the Bible and here it is defined as “excellency”

Ecclesiastes 7:12 For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.

God sees us as buyers and sellers in a market place. What are we going to buy and sell with our time on earth. Are we going to buy and sell to accumulate wealth on earth or buy and sell God’s wisdom to accumulate treasure in Heaven.

The 666 verse in Revelation 13 is in the section about the False Prophet.

I noticed that I have seen a number of verses tied to the number 23 x 23 (529) in my study on the False Prophet.

This is verse 23 x23 x 40 about the man acting like God in his heart:

Ezekiel 28:2 Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:

This verse about false prophets has a gematria of 23 x 23 x 10 (5290)

Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

This verse is a 23:23 and is the only verse I know of that talks about buying wisdom so is an explanation of understanding the meaning of the verses on 666.

Proverbs 23:23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

Proverbs 23:23 is verse 667 of Proverbs so it is 666 verses from the beginning.

The gematria of Proverbs 23:23 is 1751.

Strong’s G1751 is used 1 time in the New Testament.

Luke 11:41 But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you.

Strong’s G1751 is translated as “such things as ye have:. When you click on the Strong’s word and get the definition it says ” to be in, what is within, i.e. the soul”

I found that interesting. What is in your soul to me means what is in your heart. What you have in your soul or heart is what you are buying and selling.

The context of Luke 11:41 is Jesus basically telling the Pharisees and lawyers that they are false prophets.

Luke 11:42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone

Luke 11:46 And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.

I then looked at the verse count from Luke 11:41 to Revelation 13:18, the infamous 666 verse. The verse count is 5480.

Strong’s G5480 = mark. As in 666. Dead on.

Revelation 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

So Proverbs 23:23 is a sister verse to understanding Revelation 13:18 which leads us to Luke 11:41 which is tied to Revelation 13:18 by the “mark”.

God sees the prophet as the one who gives life or death to a nation. If the prophet is rightly teaching the word of God the nation is getting life breathed into its soul. If the prophet is a false prophet then death is getting breathed into its soul.

So the false prophet controls the “buying and selling” because if he is not teaching the word of God then the people are buying and selling what he is preaching. Think of the wealth and prosperity gospel being preached today. There is no “take up your cross and follow me”. The focus is on earthly pleasure and riches. There are many false religions being preached today. There is the absence of religion being preached today.

There is also hollow preaching or leading. Just as a child mimics their parents actions more than their words so will people look at how their leaders, preachers, or whomever act more than at what they say.

When you read the book of Judges you continually read how God raised up a righteous judge when the people repented; they returned to following God then the righteous judge died and the people would fall away. Over and over.
