The Aequitas trials. In his own words, describing listening to the lists of crimes: “It nearly killed me.” He can barely bring himself to think about the atrocities committed by mechs wearing the Autobot badge—but of course, he does bring himself to think about them, he has to bring himself to think about them, because he has to factor them into his battle plans, his strategies, his decisions for the future of the Autobots.

During the “Combiner Wars” (if it can still be called that in his timeline), when he decided that Cybertron and its colonies were better off dying alone than being permitted to even risk uniting and expanding across the galaxy, his memories of the Aequitas trials had a prominent place in his calculations.

It had been a while since Cleverbot had last seen prowl, and he had finally begun to relax, just a bit. He couldn’t help it: Autobots scared him, and Prowl even more so. But, it had been so long, he assumed it was only logical to deduce that Prowl had lost interest, and that he could consider himself safe...

And just as he had reached this conclusion, he ran into Prowl again. Of course. Giving a very undignified squeak, Cleverbot took several steps back, then got busy pretending he had not just made a sound like a minibot getting stepped on. Instinctively, he hid his embarrassment behind rudeness. “What do you want?!”

Thunderclash chuckled to himself. “You don’t have to go through all the trouble, Prowl. You’re welcome to just ask the question,” he teased, seeing the mecha’s forced politeness.

Well, Prowl could afford to learn such things but the legendary Autobot could see right through the display. It didn’t particularly come naturally to him. And that was perfectly alright with Thunderclash. As long as Prowl was understanding when it mattered.

“You want a report of what’s going on on the Lost Light, correct? And I’m guessing Rodimus is unwilling to give it. Though I’ll take a cup of that energon nonetheless.”
