It was almost a month ago that he had actually hacked into the company. He was just messing around, bored with nothing to do. He wasn't a good person, and he knew that. So he decided to hack into the company and managed to find out a lot more than he was going for. He knew their secrets, had a strong hold on them too.
He knew it wasn't safe to keep them, so he did his best to erase his tracks, to cover everything up and then run. Get away from the place where the hack had occured. And it worked, at least for a while. But when you hack someone, especially someone like this, he knew that he couldn't hide forever. They were going to want to elimanate the threat.
And that's what they set out to do, and a month later they found him. But he wasn't that guy anymore, he wasn't hacking (except when needed) he was trying to be better. Damn Steve Rogers and his constant belief in people. Maybe if he hadn't listened to him he wouldn't be so scared to die right now. He had something to lose now.
He was standing in a room in what he could only assume was their base when he heard the voice. The voice that had been reason for him for the past few weeks. "Steve?" Winn asked quietly before realizing that it was indeed the Captain.
He wasn't paying attention just following the orders that were given. He didn't have much time for anything else. But then he saw it, all the blood. So much of it and he knew that it was his fault. He was supposed to die here, die for his mistakes. But instead Steve was on the ground and for the first time he actually felt guilt.
When they made it to the jet Winn took a step back, his breath hitching as he felt his heart rate increase. This was his fault. He watched as the red headed woman started working on Steve, getting the armor off and taking care of the injuries. Winn didn't trust himself to help, he wasn't a doctor he was just a hacker.
