Trust in God for Deliverance from Enemies

1 Give ear to my words, O Lord; give heed to my groaning. 2 Hearken to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to thee do I pray. 3 O Lord, in the morning thou dost hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for thee, and watch.

4 For thou art not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not sojourn with thee. 5 The boastful may not stand before thy eyes; thou hatest all evildoers. 6 Thou destroyest those who speak lies; the Lord abhors bloodthirsty and deceitful men.

7 But I through the abundance of thy steadfast love will enter thy house, I will worship toward thy holy temple in the fear of thee. 8 Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of my enemies; make thy way straight before me.

9 For there is no truth in their mouth; their heart is destruction, their throat is an open sepulchre, they flatter with their tongue. 10 Make them bear their guilt, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; because of their many transgressions cast them out, for they have rebelled against thee.

1 Listen to my cry, Shaddai, and give ear to my inmost thoughts. 2 O my God and my friend, attend to me as I pour out my prayer before You. 3 I present myself to You at daybreak, for I know that every morning You are there to hear my prayer. I have confidence in You, 4 because I know that You are set against all wickedness. I know that evil cannot survive in Your holy presence, 5 that self-important, self-righteous people have no standing in Your eyes. Neither can You abide those who are destructive of life. 6 You will wipe out all deceit, all lying, and all violence. 7 How glad I am that I can enter Your house confident in the abundance of Your grace! I will worship in Your Holy presence with fitting and reverent awe. 8 In spite of all obstacles, lead me in the justice of Your ways, Shaddai. Let Your paths be plain to me. 9 Not a word from their mouth can be trusted;  their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies. 10 Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you. 11 Let all who put their trust in You dance with joy and shout with gladness, because Your love is their covering. Let all who love You be joyful in You always, 12 For You, Shaddai, will bless the upright in heart, and surround them with the warm cloak of Your favor.

Some possible uses of this psalm:

Ask for favors from others, especially from authorities or superiors in business

Increase faith and promote spiritual growth (pray every morning by a white candle)

Imprecatory prayer (v10)

Prayer for protection, favor, and joy (v11-12)

February 5th, 20201 – In Which Soren Contemplates Time, Being, and Being In (but Not On) Time

“O Lord, hear me as I pray;

    pay attention to my groaning.

Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God,

    for I pray to no one but you.

Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord.

    Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly.” - Psalm 5:1-3

                  This Psalm is a prayer David composed to God asking for His help and vindication from lies.

              And, honestly?

              I’ve had this issue before, but I really am just…feeling apart from that crazy. I know there will be more stupid in the future, but I just am happy to let go of it. My past is my past and there will always be silly dramatic people trying to dredge it up…but, so what?

              The things I have seen and survived are infinitely more terrifying than a middle-class white bread Evangelical decrying how unloved by God I am.

              As far as anything notable to point out is just a need to be pray focused because conversation, real and honest talk, is at the root of any close relationship. To be honest. I can be quite terrible at this. I go in phases of life and prayer and this is something that I need to take more time to do.

              I tend to spend time throughout the day just talking, sometimes that is enough.

              For about two years I spent time praying through the Lord’s Prayer in segments.

              Writing and music are two places I always feel God, this ethereal like connection that is so hard to put into words, but so is Love. We say the word Love and it brings images to mind but the word isn’t the thing…the same with God.

              In some ways, life has been a roller coaster since 2014, but I feel there is more positive than bad.

              Expectation…

              And, if nothing else, at least working through the Psalms is giving me a chance to meditate and think about where I’ve been and where I can be going.

Hearken unto my moaning

Pay heed to my protest

For you are not a God friendly to dictators

neither are you a partisan of their politics

Nor are you influenced by their propaganda

Neither are you in league with the gangster

There is no sincerity in their speeches

nor in their press releases

They speak of peace in their speeches

while they increase their war production

They speak of peace at Peace Conferences

and secretly prepare for war

Their lying radios roar into the night

Their desks are strewn with criminal intentions and sinister reports

But you will deliver me from their plans

They speak through the mouth of the submachine gun

Their flashing tongues are bayonets…

Punish them, O Lord,

thwart them in their policies

confuse their memorandums

obstruct their programs.

At the hour of Alarm

you shall be with me

To ya who believe not in the lies of their commercial messages

nor in their publicity campaigns, nor in their political campaigns

you will give your blessing
