This was the verse of the day a couple days ago, but I’ve been reflecting on it a lot now. On one level, this verse describes this supernatural experience between the divine and humanity. If you are broken-hearted, God can personally come into your life and heal you. If you are wounded, God will personally come into your life to bind them up. Honestly, I could use a bit of both of that about now. But then, the more I thought about it, another level revealed itself. What if it is the spark of God in me that is supposed to do these things? What if that is supposed to be my calling? I think I was drawn to religious studies because there was something I needed, and that for me was a process of my own healing and binding, but what if I’m called to go and use that to help others in the same way using what I’ve learned, to find the broken-hearted and wounded in the world and just be there for them and give them what they need to learn so that they may begin to heal.
