“Oh yeah, that’s right. You beat me fair and sq- oh nevermind, you didn’t. Your team’s a pack of criminals. Yeah, Rubes and her friends filled me in. I’ve been training since then so don’t think I’d go easier on you. Your boyfriend isn’t here to assist.”

In all honesty, Coco wasn’t sure if she could take on Emerald by herself. She wasn’t lying when she said she’d been training lately, but who knows how old Emerald was or how much combat she secretly already knew.

The sun shone on Mercuria’s face, waking her up. Was it that time already? It seemed the boss and her friend were already up and about, as she didn’t see them. Just Emerald. The quaint little cabin they’d taken refuge in felt that much bigger now.

“Oh. You’re still here. Hey, while you’re up, mind getting me a coffee and maybe some waffles? If we don’t have syrup, forget about it, though.”

All her jest did was make her hungry, unfortunately.

With nothing to do in this otherwise abandoned area, Mercury had gone a’hunting. Recent days had shown that Emerald had become more skittish, so he’d gone out to politely dissuade the Grimm from their free roaming around their quarters.

Doing the thing that a partner was supposed to do was usually exterminate them, but given their amiability to him, he decided that perhaps a more polite request would see to it that they are less... visible, from their abode.

He hadn’t intended on her seeing him as he coerced them. As one, several of them turn around to snarl, before he claps his hands together.

“Already?” He said dryly, raising a single brow. With a shuffle of their metaphorical feet, they obediently troop off, leaving the two alone. “You’re early.” He remarked.

Her gaze matches their own,          She, @pseudogem, seeks answer.

Jaune cupped Emerald’s chin, slowly raising her gaze to meet his own. His other hand sought out hers, and he gave it a gentle squeeze. He gave a smile, to go along with his touch. Anything to make her believe she wasn’t alone anymore. 

“I’m here for you, okay? I always will be too.” He said softly, his whole posture radiating his earnest desire to help her.

Mercury let out a sharp hiss, instinctively retracting his arm away from Emerald. “Hey, it wouldn’t hurt to be a little more gentle,” he murmured. “That stuff hurts like a bitch.”

Then again, it was his own damn fault he got a nasty cut on his upper arm. He probably should have been more careful.

   An enigmatic smile was on Mercury’s face as his eyebrows raised. He was obviously being COCKY and messing with her - but Mercury was CONFIDENT that she knew that was his own way of showing APPRECIATION.
