Paleostream 30/03/2024
here's this weeks #Paleostream sketches!!!
today we drew Mobulavermis, Saltasaurus, Simurghia, and Psilopterus (i drew P. lemoninei)
This piece recently made its debut on Threadless as a design, but it's part of a series of designs featuring classic prehistoric rivalries inverted: The Unlikely Friendships design challenge is fun for that. In this case, Smilodon and Psilopterus, aka the Terror Bird from Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age.
For whatever reason, we have a tendency to depict Smilodon and Terror Birds as bitter enemies despite them being somewhat anachronistic to each other. Perhaps it's us upscaling cat vs bird, or perhaps it's left over from that "hierearchy of life" idea that "conveniently" slapped us up top. No matter what, I think that the cat being a perch for a bird makes sense: It's a look-out post, and the local Macrauchenias won't see that combo coming!
Results from yesterday’s flocking paleostream
We have Mobulavermis eating a lancelet
A baby saltasaurus stuck in the ground
A Simurghia (my idea) family witnessing the first steps of their newest relative
Psilopterus and baby
Unfortunately I couldn’t capture the absolute skrunk of baby seriemas in the baby psilopterus
I mean look at these guys
Mobulavermis
Saltasaurus
Simurghia
Psilopterus
Trick or treat!! 👻👻👻
