MxN Week Day 4: Comfort

A knock on the door of his bedroom suite alerted Nephrite to the arrival of his order. He rose to answer, only to be tugged back down onto the bed.

“Stay,” Makoto groaned.

“I’d love to,” he said, leaning in to kiss his beloved’s forehead, “but your food is here.”

Makoto rolled her eyes.

“Food!” she said, half-exasperated, “I don’t think I could eat anything if I made it myself!”

“I know, babe. But you really need to keep your strength up.”

Gently pulling away, Nephrite went to the door and opened it to reveal a maid waiting with a covered tray.

“Hoping Lady Jupiter feels better soon,” she said, handing him the tray.

Plain wheat toast, plain noodles, rice, and chicken. That’s what Mamoru and Ami had said was good for a stomach bug. that’s what he’d ordered from the castle kitchen, and that’s what it smelled like had been delivered.

Thanking the maid, Nephrite closed the door and returned to the bedside.

“You’d think Crystal Tokyo would have a cure for stomach bugs,” Nephrite said, sitting down, “what did our resident doctors say, anyway?”

“Just a twenty-four-hour bug,” Makoto said. The smile she tried to give him looked more like a grimace.

"Four hours in and you're looking better already," Nephrite said, removing the lid from the tray and taking a spoonful of rice.

"Still don't like being cooped up like this," Makoto said.

"Even with me?"

This time, Makoto's smile didn't look forced.

"Well, you do make everything better."

"So glad you noticed. Now, Say 'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah."

Leaning up, Makoto took proffered rice and chewed carefully.

"You know what I love about you?" she said.

"Other than that I'm as gorgeous as you? Or that I can bench just about as much as you can?"

Makoto smirked.

"I was going to say that you're such a comfort, but I think we could add humility to the list."

I’m rewatching sailor moon for the first time in probably a decade and it’s so nostalgic. Also Usagi has SUCH a relatable personality it’s not even funny

A fresh study at Michigan State looks at the accuracy of genetic testing for horses with suspected PSSM Type 2 and Myofibrillar Myopathy.

Interesting new study regarding the validity (or not) of the currently commercially available gene tests for PSSM type 2. I really do feel for these owners who have a horse showing signs of PSSM type 2, but getting a solid diagnosis from a muscle biopsy can be tricky and based on timing the biopsy just right to them having an episode. However, as I have said for years the currently available test is really just “snake oil” until actually peer reviewed. Unfortunately it would appear that the biopsy continues to be the only true way to diagnose PSSM type 2. It will be interesting to see what the owner of the currently available genetic test’s response is, he’s pretty quick to bully anybody that questions his company and the lack of peer review, while racking in $250 per test.
