Here are some things you may want to know if you're considering participating in the NYRB
You may remain anonymous in posting.
This applies to both writing and art. We will be hosting two a03 collections, one for people who don’t wish to post anonymously, one one for those who do. You can freely choose which one you wish to post in.
For those who wish to share their creations on Tumblr but also wish to remain anonymous, the NYRB will host your posts for you, so your personal accounts cannot be tied back to the event.
Everything can be art.
The second phase (the art phase) of the bang will accept ALL KINDS of art. This includes but is not limited to:
- Visual arts (digital or traditional drawings and comics)
- Animations
- Music (Original, covers, parodies)
- Crafts (e.g. Crochet, photo collages, etc..)
- Written arts (e.g. poems, drabbles, short one-shots)
- Mood boards
- And anything else you may feel inspired to create
All settings are allowed!
You can write quite literally whatever you want. You want to write a real world based fic? Cool! You want to write an AU fic? Awesome! Write whatever you want!
All tropes are allowed!
Romance, friendship, horror, adventure, slice of life, slow burn, and yes, also the nastiest, wildest nsfw you can think of. You can write whatever you want. As long as you tag your writing/art appropriately, you may write quite literally anything. The discord server will have designated sections for mature and sensitive content, so you can also discuss this freely without worrying about having to censor yourself.
There is no minimum amount you need to create!
As a writer, all we ask of you is that your writing tells a story of some sort. If you can accomplish this in 700 words, then you don't need to write more than that. If you would like to write 100k, that is also perfectly fine.
The same applies to art. All you feel ready for is a little doodle? We love doodles! You want to create a 10 page long comic? We love those too!
Likewise, writers and artists of all skill levels may participate. You just started? Cool, we'd love to have you!
You've been doing this for 20 years? Awesome, we'd love to have you!
Discord mandate.
Discord will be mandatory to participate. It is where we distribute all the information and where we offer the spaces to bounce ideas back and forth, and where writers may find their beta readers.
However, if you cannot under any circumstances join the server, you can send us a DM here on Tumblr, and we'll see what we can do.
