Trying to learn about Freud is annoying but almost funny because it's SO perverted and you can't even hide it.

First, the libido (commonly known as your SEX drive) is the psychic energy that drives a person to pleasurable (in a SEXual way, y'know) thoughys and behaviors (it makes you wanna have SEX!). Our life instincts, or Eros (y'know, like Eros, the god of SEX and where "erotic" comes from) are manifested through it and are the creative forces that sustain life (because we need SEX to live!)

Also we're going to name a stage of development "phallic" and say all kids want to have sex with their opposite sex parent. They lose interest in it later meaning it's outright saying that kids 3-5 have sexual impulses AND that it's a fundamental stage of their development? Freud's been not just sexualing kids but claiming they ARE sexual beings.

No one apparently knows what a discussion question is.

A Discussion Question is not

-a fact from the reading reworded into a question: ex. What is a mental status exam?

-a question that is answered by googling because it's just a question of fact not in the reading: ex. Have psychologists changed how they conduct mental status exams?

A discussion question should mirror class discussion. You should be able to bring in your own opinions and experiences. Ik I'm the only one raising my hands in class discussion anyway and ik you're just afraid to be wrong, but that's not the point. This is a social science. Your own perspective matters.

Actual discussion questions:

-Is "functioning" the best way to determine is someone needs treatment?

-Is it as effective when people who are mentally ill teach themselves self-monitoring vs taught by a psychologist?

And adding you own thoughts and why you had the question is encouraged.
