Watched the Larry David show fully expecting a two-minute Kathryn Hahn scene and got blessed with 8 minutes or so. Now, I wish there’s a show about her Mary Todd Lincoln on why she was the rotten banana among the bananas that they had to cut her off or else, she’d make the others rotten as well.
For just an obvious caricature of an otherwise complicated real life character, when Mary was shown as sad and grieving, you know the grief was there. It resided quietly behind Mary’s beady eyes, fully alert, as she sparred with Butterfield crazy for crazy. But then, when the man crossed the line, grief showed up firmly and beckoned Mary to tell him to fuck off or she would shoot his nuts for real. For a rotten banana, you know in that moment she wasn’t kidding.
So yep, Butterfield, how do you like your scarf now?
