His office has been reconstructed as well as it can be while still remaining functional and accommodating to both him and his visitors. Sunlight filters in gently through thin, drawn curtains, illuminating his chair and the couch at his side-- it’s soft and cushioned now, inspired by the furniture he’s seen in his new house. He’s set up the energon table again, too, crowding it instead with tall pitchers of water, supplies for tea and coffee, and various snacks that he’s been assured are both healthy and considered “comfort food” by those that can metabolize them.
The room glows with a gentle, unobtrusive air of invitation that’s mirrored in Rung’s smile as he hooks one leg over the other, straightens his notepad, and gestures to the couch.
“Hello, Date. It’s wonderful to see you-- please, make yourself comfortable.”
“My name is Rung, and I’m looking forward to working with you. This first session is primarily to help us get a sense of one another. I have a few things I’d like to confirm with you, and I’d like to give you the opportunity to express any concerns or expectations you may have of me before we begin treatment.”
He looks down briefly to check his notes, the glance barely perceptible behind his glasses.
“First things first: I wanted to ask you about the functionality of your AI. Can you tell if it’s still regulating your oxytocin levels as intended?”
He knows that wasn’t among Date’s listed reasons for coming in today, but it seems important to check up on that before they approach the deeper and more complicated aspects of Date’s health.
