my sister and I joke about our shitty childhood and everything we’ve gone through but talking with her today made me so sad because she has no one in her life to talk about this with. there are things - big important things we’ve both had happen to us - and she said she’s never told her husband and they’ve been together for 12 years. she is full of so much sadness and I don’t know how to help her. we casually joked about a bunch of shit but like. dang. idk. I’m really upset. I wish I knew she felt like this all these years because maybe we could have been there for each other in a more substantial way. it’s really hard to talk about abuse and it’s long lasting affects to people who have never experienced that but it’s also it’s own special kind of hell to intimately know the suffering someone you love has gone through and know how to help yourself but not them.
