Ugh I know, right? I actually recommend that show in tiers. Like watch through part of 2 if you want to be happy, all of 2 if you want to sob, all of 3 if you want to feel empty inside for a lil', and 4 if you're trying to regain a spark of something (usually I tell people to pretend 3 was the end end though).
That is a good way of going about it actually!! (And I do the same thing re: recommending people ignore Miracle Day). Like the vibe of Series 1 and 2 is completely different from that of series 3, and Miracle Day was just something else. Though, I have to say, Miracle Day did have an interesting premise, and maybe I wouldn’t have hated it as much as I did if it wasn’t trying to be Torchwood. The characterisations were all so completely off and the new characters were so annoying... but the idea was interesting... it makes me wonder what someone who hasn’t seen any of the previous seasons would think...
