Kicked out for being gay
Ryan Tremblay is one of the 6000 LGBT young people that end up living on the street in Canada each year. Egale, a national charity that promotes LGBT rights, is trying to change that with their new campaign, Out at Night. Daily Xtra attended their inaugural event in Toronto on May 30 where some attendees experienced homelessness by spending the night outside.
Gay filmmaker exposes Mecca in new film
Parvez Sharma, a Muslim and gay filmmaker, documents his Hajj pilgrimage in his new film, A Sinner in Mecca. In the above interview with Daily Xtra, Sharma discusses using his iPhone to and smuggled cameras to shoot in Mecca, where filming is forbidden. The film is screening at Inside Out in Toronto on May 30.

Toronto raises flag for International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia
The rainbow flag was raised in front of Toronto's City Hall on May 15 in honour of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia on May 17. On hand were Mayor John Tory and Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam to speak the attendees on the roof of city hall. After the event, Tory told reporters that he supports Ontario's updated sex-education curriculum.
