TO BE DESTROYED 03/05/18 A volunteer writes: Peggy May. The girl so nice we named her twice. It’s fitting that our beautiful girl has double the names, as I have double the praise to sing of her. First, there’s her obvious beauty. A gorgeous, grey ghost with ears like doves perched atop her head and a coat so soft you’ll find your eyes falling closed every single time you pet her. But little Peggy is far from an untouchable piece of art, masterpiece though she is. She is the wiggliest, silliest, goofiest, loveliest, most lovey-dovey, snuggly, cuddly girl you’ll ever know. Good luck sitting alone when our munchkin is nearby. Peggy sees every lap as an open invitation and every pair of arms as parentheses just waiting to hold her. And how lucky that makes you. Because to have a bad day, a sour moment, or a cloud-filled sky just isn’t a possibility with this superstar in your orbit. Peggy May comes to us as a stray so much of her past is unknown. I know she is a beautiful walker, a well-mannered taker of treats, and one of the most people-loving creatures I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. In fact Peggy is such a people pup that she would prefer to be your one and only, the sole furry apple of your eye. But with a shimmering light that shines this bright, trust me – you’ll never be wanting for another. Peggy would do best with an experienced family who can help further her socialization with other pups but without any others in the home for now. And one with plenty of laps for her to squeeze her way on to, and plenty of arms to hold her tight.Peggy May. So nice we named her twice. TO BE DESTROYED 02/15/2018 A volunteer writes: Chai is an adorable brindley dumpling waiting right at her door to meet you. A cute bundle she is, looking right at me with bright eyes and a lovely round face cocked to the side. How can one resist her? Chai is eager to go out, stops by a gathering of staff, gets her share of hugs, and off to the street we go to attend to business. We take a quick walk around the block. Yes, she did not expect rain and snow and is quickly back inside for a drying session. Chai appreciates the attention and licks my hands. Treats are in order. She sits beautifully for them, and almost emptied my bag of its kibbles, slowly but surely. She comes on her own onto my lap for caresses. Chai was very shy when she came in to the care center, but time and socialization did their work, and Chai is now ready to find a new home and a human or family to love. TO BE DESTROYED 02/23/18 A VOLUNTEER WRITES: Kali is a pretty and lively youngster, a happy blend of good looks, fun and sweetness. Time spent with Kali is quite enjoyable, and calls for more. Kali is welcoming in her kennel and eager to go for a walk. She strolls very nicely for a young dog, does her business in the street, and loves to chase pigeons and squirrels. It is not hard to refocus her, though. Free in a pen, she is full of good energy, sits on command and for treats, already seems to know her given name(she is smart) and and is up for a good ball game. She runs, jumps and catches with fire in her eyes and an ever wagging tail. She enjoys playgroups where she engages in rowdy play (yes, she is a tomboy). Being a puppy, Kali loves caresses, hugs, kisses, and the warmth of a lap. It is not difficult to make her collapse on her back for belly rubs. Kali is an adorable spring flower, well made, well dressed, super friendly, affectionate and playful. Being so young, she will still need some training and lots of exercise to make her your perfect forever best friend. Come and meet Kali soon at the Manhattan Care Center.

TO BE DESTROYED 02/20/18 A volunteer writes: Caramelly, nutty, buttery, strong yet sweet at the same time? If you like the flavor of Gouda the cheese then you’re going to love what Gouda the dog brings to the table! Dressed in a flawless caramel coat and showing off just the right amount of nutty, playful energy, ‘The Big G’ is a whole lotta dog to love. His fur is buttery soft and his heart too, and while his play style can be pretty full-on at times, he’ll still listen and sit politely on command for a treat…or five! Weighing in at 68 pounds of pure muscle, Gouda’s a naturally strong puller on leash but he listens well and responds to correction all while promptly taking care of his business and meeting passing dogs with happy enthusiasm. He’s less into toys than he is having fun with his two- and four-legged friends and once tuckered out by a good long walk and a zoomie session, he’ll lean his gorgeous blockhead onto your lap for some soft petting. The Big G lives every moment to the full and he’s looking for an active, outdoorsy family, with or without other pups, who’ll join him for a lifetime worth of fun and adventure.
