the interesting thing about doin gthe day 5reshoots is that jole is shaved now. Are they going to used the old footage? or are they basically redoing everything?
okay so to answer this to the best of my ability we need to talk about pilots
RT was shopping around Day 5 to be made for tv as a weekly show. this means they shot a pilot. a pilot is one show that they show to the people that pick shows to decide if they want to make more of that show. (shoutout to Pulp Fiction for that excellent description)
sometimes pilots are good enough as they are to be included in the first season of the show as an episode. That 70′s Show’s first episode is called “That 70′s Pilot”. The first episode of Firefly was actually the pilot but because it’s 2 hours long Fox made Joss Whedon do another episode that covered the same shit but in an hour and that’s why the second episode, “The Train Job,” rehashes all the shit from the first episode.
sometimes pilots are RADICALLY different from the final version of the show. Actors change, plots change, theme songs change, shit gets thrown out or put in, etc. Full House didn’t originally have Bob Saget playing Danny Tanner. The show Heroes was meant to be a LOT darker and didn’t have Zachary Quinto. Apparently Seinfeld was total garbage the first time around and the pilot was completely redone.
HAVING SAID ALL THAT, I would wager that the footage we’ve seen so far from Day 5 is probably from that pilot. I have no fucking idea whether they’re keeping any of that. Who knows? That’s RT’s decision, not mine. Maybe the footage from the pilot will fit into the series, maybe it won’t. And tbh we probably won’t ever really know unless someone says so in a special feature or on a commentary.
I know you’re asking me because of the picture Josh tweeted of Joel looking all dapper on set and here’s what I’m thinking: that’s a flashback/prologue. One of the ways they depict time passing in shows/movies is hair. Joel is clean shaven with nice hair and no eye bags on day one, but by day five (haha) he has scruffy facial hair and his hair looks like shit and his eyes are all sunken.
And like I said, that footage is from the pilot and all of that could be thrown out for all we know and this is the new makeup. But it’s a pretty plausible theory anyway.

*I* would not skip episode 1. i enjoy the movie from a sentimental and nostalgia standpoint and so do a lot of people.
HAVING SAID THAT, i’m aware that in the scope of its own trilogy and the entire series, it’s the weakest film. a lot of the characters introduced in it either die or get left out of the remainder of the series and the plot that drives the movie is bare bones bullshit.

For the oven question. Lower temp with longer cooking time could help but you could also try moving the oven rack so its farther away from the heating element in the oven. Your best bet is to do a little experimenting.
my oven has 2 heating elements, one on top and one on bottom. moving it away from one puts it closer to the other. while that does help in the pizza situation where the crust wasn’t getting done, it doesn’t help much if i’m baking a loaf of banana bread where the whole thing needs to be done the same amount.
